I got that along with the X27 for 57 bucks total! Can that be used to sharpen other axes?

It can sharpen all of the other Fiskars axes, but it won't work with most other axes in my experience.

Fiskars sharpener works but a little disappointed it it's crappy quality! Fiskars is spot on when your talkin axes!

+1.

Love the axes. Feel the ~10 bucks for the sharpener is better spent on a flat file.

I used my sharpener for the first time. It worked but the plastic holding the grinding wheels is not heavy duty. The whole thing was much smaller than I expected but it took the nicks out of the axe and put a nice edge on it.

Got one at Sears for 9.99. Used it all weekend long. Love it.

I agree. However I use a good quality double-sided sharpening stone. I am able to get all my axes shaving sharp (along with knives, chisels, hand planers, etc.), without taking off too much material.

Is there any reason that a guy can't use a grinding wheel?

So is it the fact that our mauls aren't sharp enough or is it the fact that this X27 or the like have teflon on them? Can we put teflon & sharpen our mauls up?

Angle of the blade. If you have a maul with the correct angle to it I don't see why it wouldn't work.
