It may be just my imagination, but I would bet the Englander 30 is the most common stove on this forum.

It must be a really good stove. I know the Blaze Kings and the big boys are excellent too, but they cost big bucks

All I hear about is the Blaze King. How much do the Englander 30's cost and are they a CAT stove.
The Kings can go for over $3k new.

Even still if it was 1500 more then another stove over 15 years that's a 100 bucks a year...two nights out for dinner/year..maybe..lol.
Last BK went 24 years and still operable.

The 30 is a non-cat. If you keep your eye out for deals, they can be had for well under $1000.
Are they fancy? No.
Are the built well? Yes.
Do they put out some serious heat? Yes.
Are they a value that is hard to beat? Yes.
I think we 30 owners are just really vocal. There are a lot of other stoves in use around here. I would like to know what the real stats are.

Lets see, since I've been here there has been a BK phase, a PE Summit phase and an Englander phase.
The Englander does the job, but I don't think it's all that some here make it to be. I'd love to get my mitts on a T-5 or T-6. That stove has sex appeal.

If I had lots of money, I would love to have a big house heated with a custom Hearthstone with like a 6 or 7 cubic foot box. Something you could put really massive splits into. I sat in front of my uncles fireplace X-Mas Eve. It's not by any means efficient like a stove, but there is something wonderful about an open hearth. Was burning some really dry ash. Smelled nice and burned really well
Probably the reason the NC-30 is so popular is its the best bang for the buck. Especially if you dont have many bucks..

Can be had for as little as $649.00 at the right time of year. I paid $800 for the Stove and all needed components for a Single story basement install (Double wall inside, Thimble, Cleanout T, 18 ft of Class A Triple wall) It was a Forum member who bought it. Had 3 fires in it and got a job offer a couple weeks after purchasing.
Great heater, Looks Good (IMO), Cheap, and easy to load N/S or E/W. Hard to beat it.

My harman can be used as an open hearth fireplace. I got the optional fireplace screen for it. Open the door and the bypass and wala you got nothing between you and the fire except a screen. A nice feature available on their inserts as well.
Its hard to tell. I'm sure everyone has a stove in mind before they buy. And then they see the price at the dealers and that stove may change. I wanted a jotul and I think that's the most popular brand in my head, but the prices at the dealer in medford with no talk of discounts in late march made me walk out. And that's how I found Osburn. I knew about drolet from northerntool which was my internet choice, very high reviews. Then from searching this site I found dynamitebuys, which helped me find osburn, and I bought the 1800i and am very happy with it.
There are a whole lot of people here with Jotul Oslos and Castines. Back in 2006 the 30 was discovered the night before I was headed into town to buy a Hearthstone Clydesdale insert. I came across it on the ESW website, grabbed a measuring tape and knew I had found that big honkin stove that I wanted in my fireplace. Having known of the company and their products for 30 years I bought the stove the next day. I chuckle when people talk about deal shopping one. I actually gave the guy my credit card number and shipping address before I remembered to ask him how much I had just spent. Turned out it was $1049 shipped into a terminal close to here. Nobody around here had one or seemed interested in ordering one in a whole day of running all over the place so I had it shipped in from Boulder, Colorado.
Not often you get exactly what you are looking for and save $1,700 in the process.
Lotta of nice wood stoves out there and everybody should get the one they like/want. You are gonna be looking at it and feeding it for a long, long time. Don't just buy it on price. You will always wonder "What if I had...".

The 30 is by far the best bang for the buck... Many others may look better but when you compare performance.. they don't outshine the 30 by much ... Then factor in the price difference!
I wish my setup would have allowed for a 30 I coulda saved about 1500 as well

They're all good.

however, that said, most get the job done. i really like the jotul and have drooled over the BKK and princess and have envy because i have a summit ( want the longer burn time). a lot of problems arrise from the operators and the wood they use, not the stoves. reminds me of some of the oil debates folks have in the harley forum.

A poll would be interesting, and I don't doubt Englander would be near or at the top.
I imagine the ol' Encore would be close to the bottom of popularity as well...

Plenty of Englanders (like others said -- best bang for the buck), Oslo is pretty popular here, Fireview used to get a lot of publicity (but it seems as though the PH has stolen a lot of its well deserved good PR as of late) . . .
