This may be a dumb question but I installed a 30ft 4 inch chimney liner for a Lopi Pioneer Bay insert. I added the tee which clamps to the liner end. However when the tee goes on the stove flue end there is no clamp. I checked the installation and it made not mention of the clamp so do you just caulk it with the red heat caulk or should I get a tee. The kit I bought was the New England Supply Best Flex 4 inch liner with tee kit. My upstairs insert had the vertical attachment with stainless screws, this does not. Any help would be appreciated. I did turn it on the other night without caulking the tee yet and some embers flew out the tee. It was just a trial run. I did get the 4 inch Simpson Duravent tee as well with this insert as it was used and it appeared the guy caulked the end, but I don't know. Thanks

Usually caulked with hi temp rtv then 3 equally spaced screws added thru the T into the outlet collar.

Yep. High temp and screws. The liner/pipe manual should have something in it about this.

What brand vent is it?

Does the T fit very loose on the stove outlet? Is there an appliance adapter as part of the kit?

Most installs require an appliance adapter siliconed and screwed onto the stove exhaust, and then the T gets attached to that......then the flex pipe w/ clamp.

The manual says it is Best Flex from New England Supply. I probably should have bought Forever Flex which is what I used on my other stove. Yeah the manual doesn't whether to caulk or even put screws in the stove flue. I know my Breckwell already has screws holes, this Lopi doesn't nor are there any screw hold for the tee except for the tee bottom cap. So you think I need to drill holes in the tee and then into the Lopi flue? The previous owner showed no use of screws because his Simpson Duravent piece just has the clear caulk. I want to make sure it is right. I just double checked the Lopi manual and there is no mention. Is caulking the tee to the back of the pellet flue going to hold?

This has the tee with a clamp on the top to attach to the end of the flex liner. The part of the tee that attached to the back of the stove exahust flue is very snug. No screw holes are in the end of the tee or the stove exahust. I did just try the Simpson Duravent piece and it too fit snug and there are no holes in it either. I don't think there was an appliance adapter in the box.

your definately gonna want some sort of mechanical fastener.

Some T's are designed as an adapter also. There will be no pre-drilled holes in the T or if you have an adapter. None of my stoves came with them..

Some stoves collars are thicker and may require the use of a small drill bit. Just because self tapers that small, normally cant get the job done.

Does the T fit as snug as the appliance adapter you tried? If so, then it should be fine. Just make sure you seal it well (High temp RTV) and use some screws (mark and pre drill smaller holes than your screws).

The tee fits fairly snug. Would seal it at the seam where the two meet? You are thinking, drill three holes for screws then?
