In The Woods
Split the rest of the Sugar Maple and Cherry that was in the bed of the truck then stacked it, looks like I might just have beat mother nature with a storm coming in.

Pic 4455 is the load I split and stacked today.

Zap, it doesn't look like too much will come from this storm. But it does appear the weather is about to change. Felt like October out there today as we got to 45 degrees!

Looks like they are calling for five inches of snow, from the maps I looked at we are on the edge of 6-12, plow on the truck but the rhino will have to wait.

It was a nice day here with a high of about 30.

Looks good zap. Nice day here, still no snow. In the last pic, what's the stand for on the left side of the rhino used for? Some sort of mountain man sawbuck? Lol...:)

Long story made short, I started cutting wood 17-18 inches long before we bought the Liberty, we like burning north/south which the Liberty will take 16 inches max, just a jig for cutting it down to length.

Not much left that needs cutting down.

Zap
starting 2 scrounge next week ;-)

Zap where do you live ? I have a lead that may be way more than I can handle from the sound of it. If you are interested in free wood that is.

Pete

Now I see why your stacks are all friggin perfect! :)

BTW, I think you were accused in another thread of scrounging somewhere in central US. Thats bad zap, your a wood hoarder! Lol. :)

New York, thanks for the offer but I can't keep up with what we have. Looks like I'll need chains on the rhino if I'm going to work back in the woods after today.

I mark everything I cut at 14.75, gives us extra room from the end of the split to the glass.

Thats just a little bit a gas :) Your welcome I may be overloaded this year thank the dude upstairs. Your rhino is cool by the way!

Thanks
Pete

Thanks Zim. Most people who burn wood up here like the wood only seasoned 6-8 months but after finding this site then taking in all the good info (Sav) about having seasoned wood we are set for about 5-6 years depending on how the rest of the winter goes.

Our shoulder season wood is cut for next year (still in the woods) so it's easy going from here.

Zap...nice work. Keep it up, maybe mother nature will hold off alittle longer for you. Great pics.

Zap- great work. you have just motivated me to get off my a** from in front of this loony box and go and cut some more wood! just about finished with my new wood shed-5 ft. x 10 ft. just outside the cabin door. will use it for my "burn now" stuff. the good woman says she"s proud of me! hmmpf. have only about a year ahead-hickory,ash,walnut and oak. not ready yet.reading about 22-25 on the moisture meter. lots of dead standing here in the hollow ,so i should be okay for the rest of the season. happy new year. art

Zap,
Sure wish you'd put your location below your avatar (at least the state). With all the users on here, I can't remember who lives where. When I see one of your photos, I wonder where those great looking woods are (even though you've told me before).

Witness protection program, maybe?

artmos, I did that on Christmas Eve Day, just watched TV all day stuffing my face with some fresh baked cookies and fudge that the wife baked. One of these days we will build a shed but can't see it in the next couple of years.

It's always nice to keep the wife happy, when I started cutting about three years ago (was the first time ever cutting firewood or handling a chainsaw) the wife never thought it wOOd turn into this but she loves the heat from the woodstove plus the furnace never runs.

Happy New Year

Nice! We got about that much snow today as well. Zap, I wish I was your neighbor, I would love cutting wood with you. I love your pics. I wish I would remember to take more pictures. I love cutting wood almost as much as burning it. Since my accident, I think I am going to trade my 4 wheeler ATV in on a side by side.......like yours. safer! :smirk:
