Faced with having to work six days a week, and going into the hospital to have a complete left knee replacement sometime in February, no time to get to the bush to get next years wood dropped. Ended up having to buy a grapple load which got delivered today. Got until Jan 3rd to get this cut and split. Hope the weather holds long enough to GIT ER'DONE.........................................

Rotti, good luck on your knee replacement, something tells me you'll eat that pile up real quick.

I'm guessing about 8 cord. That's a lot of work to cut and haul that much out of the bush. How much did that set you back?

Good luck! Sorry about the upcoming work / bionic improvements but hopefully that new knee will be a good upgrade.

I know you are on a timeline, but remember to take your time; you want the doctor to take that knee out, not your saw!

Be safe and hope the weather holds.

$850 on the ground, in the yard. Maple, Beech and a few Oak. Glad to be able to get it. lotta operators shut down in this area due to soft markets. More woodburners this year, supply low.

Just got to comment on the handsome rottie.

Had several of them. Wife volunteers for northeast rottweilier rescue. www.rottrescue.org

good luck with the surgery. The dog will keep you company during the recovery.

Thanks, he is my #1 buddy. He's 6 now and we've been together since he was hours old. Really smart, sometimes too smart and above all absolutely 110% loyal

Tough to lose em. Cancer gets a lot of them. I've lost two boys. One at 12 and one at 6!

Lost our girl this year. She was 8. We currently have a near 8 year old male. He's a great big marshmallow. My wife let me pick the last one.. so we got a female Bullmastiff to go with the boy. They are good buddies.

I don't trust em and can't watch em enough to have em out in the woods with me. But boy do they love running the snowmobile trails on my land when I get em packed and flattened.

Ja, soft market here too. The local pulp and paper mill is shut down for a month or more. I have enough wood for next Winter but I like to be 2 years ahead so I need to order up a load. Worried about supply and demand. In '09 I paid $1200 for a 12 cord load or Ash delivered. I heard of recent prices as high as $160 per cord for Jackpine before the mill shut down.

ive got wood to cut in the woods...but i been thinking about ordering me a load of logs like this...650.00 down this way

From whom does one acquire these grapple loads?

Please get plenty of physical therapy after your knee replacement, I have a relative who skimped on the therapy and now his knee doesn't have much range.

Good Luck

Good luck . . . with both the surgery and in getting the wood processed.

Nothing shows up on CL for your area.. You could start here. http://www.agriculture.purdue.edu/fnr/loggers/index.pdf and find someone who works in your area to see if they are willing to sell you a log truck of their lower grade hardwoods. Not sure how old this list is. The price you will pay will compete with those who make pallets and pellets.

That's a lot of cutting and splitting to do in a week rottiman. Good luck. And also good luck on the surgery.
