I was surprised at all the differant pellet choices at the depo today. Presto log,Penningtons,American wood fiber all at 209 at ton. They had alot all in front of the store under the overhang.

But are any of them any good?

Prestos are pretty good. Lignetics make them. The others are medium grade but for the price not bad.

I have been burning american wood fibres I find them good a little more ash but overall I am pleased with them good heat and no clogs better than penningtons.

Of the ones listed, I'd be jumping on as many tons of the AWF as I could afford/store. It was a very nice pellet last time I burned some (about 6 weeks ago), and a price of $209 is not bad at all.

I have been pretty happy with the AWF from the HD down here in Mohegan Lake. At one point they must have had Presto as well because I got the last 2 bags and liked them just fine. Our HD has also had Nature's Heat, which was OK, although a different lot at the Walmart in the same shopping center had pellets which were way too long (some up to 3"), although Pennington refunded my money and left me to break up the long pellets.

Another vote for the AWF, Burned nice in my beast. Next would be the prestologs. I'll pass on the penningtons! Unless they are the yellow bagged oak pellets!

I like the AWF as well. I have tried most of the brands in my stash and they seem to be the hottest. Green Supreme are not that hot at all and Press 2 Log fall in the middle. The Greens nearly go out in my stove when set to 1.

Any time my opinion happens to coincide with Pellet Master takeman I consider myself to have moved along the pellet learning curve! Wow.
