This has happen twice, starts up and may run for 15 mins and then it goes out, no pellets in the metal tray....sometimes it will run without a problem.. any ideas

Not too familiar w/ the Thelin stoves, but normally if there is a vacuum switch in the stove to control the auger motor, it sounds like the stove and/or the exhaust system is either very dirty and needs a BIG cleaning, or the tube to the vacuum switch is clogged.

Was this a new stove, or used? How many bags through it since the last MAJOR cleaning?

I had only 2 bags through it... usually a red lite comes on if there is a problem, but the first time it did it, i restarted it and it run all day... I am thinking either the auger motor is stopping for some reason or pellets are getting jammed in there.. like i said the metal tray that holds the pellets is empty, so it not getting the pellets.

I bought the stove used, and used it last year, run 22 bags through it.. this year it run 15 mins shut off, i restarted it and it run all day. used it a few more times and it run fine, tonight i start it run 15 mins and chit off, and i noticed there were no pellets in the burn box..

Disconnect the stove, and take it completely apart as far as you are able. Clean it COMPLETELY.....blower(s), ash traps, exhaust system, etc, etc.

You only put 20 bags through it last year, and a few this year, but you have NO idea what the previous owner did (or didn't do).

Not saying this is what the problem is, but most of the time pellet stoves get sold by owners who didn't want to keep-up with cleaning & maintenance, and then couldn't figure out why the stove ran poorly, not at all, or made no heat.

Even if nothing changes, you'll at least know it's CLEAN, and then start working on other possibilities.

What model Thelin stove is it? Easier for everyone to help if we have more info, add it to your signature.

its a thelin parlour 3000, i have cleaned it but i cant say i took it all apart, usually if its not cleaned, a red lite will come on and it will shut down...shouldn't the ash pot where the pellets drop into be full of pellets..when its running.. when it shuts off its empty.. this makes me think the auger motor just decide to stop working .. wish i could catch it doing it,

OK, now is the red light staying on, or blinking? If it stays on it is telling you that the fan on the bottom of the stove is blocked with lint or dust, and it shuts down the auger so you get no pellets. Reach under the center of the stove and wipe off the plastic guard over the fan. You can also use a vacuum on it but it is close to the floor so it is hard to vacuum.

If the red light is blinking that is indicating a blockage in the flue or a wind condition creating a backdraft, this will also cause the stove to shut down the auger again leaving you with no pellets feeding. If the light is blinking you need a good cleaning including removing the clean out covers and then I would use the leaf blower trick. I use the leafblower 2 or 3 times a season and celan the stove weekly and I have never had that red light come on in 4 seasons of burning.

Sounds like the auger motor and or the motherboard.....
