Greetings everyone and Happy New Year! I just wanted to share my story about how i found this site. I have been heating the upstairs of my home now for 10 years with a Quadra-Fire 1100i and after experimenting with wood, coal, and baseboard electric in my basement i decided to look for a good used pellet stove. After talking to many pellet burning guru's i was told that Austroflamm made one the best pellet burners ever and low and behold one happened to pop up on craigslist only about an hour away from me. So i struck up a deal with the lady who had it for sale (she said she wasnt home enough to mess with it) and within a few days i was heating my basement with pellets. Well kinda... this kraut of a stove just didnt compare to my Quad upstairs. I knew it wasnt the pellets as i was burning Barefoots (been down the road with cheap pellets) So... i started doing some research online and found this site. After reading all the threads about the importance of an OAK i ordered all the material i needed from McMaster-Carr and installed my OAK. Well the rest is history and all i can say to everyone on this site is thank you!! The Austroflamm is like a totally different stove now, I mean the results were amazing.

So my advice to anybody out there running a pellet stove without an OAK...if at all possible INSTALL one ASAP. It literally was like night and day the way it changed this stove.

Thanks again to everybody on this site!!

You're welcome.

I'm on my 4th season with my Quad Mount Vernon AE and am having an OAK installed through the chimney on Wednesday for $200. I should have spent the money up front. I can't wait to report on my impressions once its installed (assuming we get some cold weather!)

Sweet looking stove. Love seeing different models. Have any other pics up close?

Congrats on the OAK and new stove.

What model Austroflamm is that? I have never seen one.

I look forward to hearing about that. I had to fork up $200 to get my OAK installed through the back wall of my fireplace when my Mt. Vernon was put in.

welcome i to live in madison county and saw your stove on craigslist before you got it.

This is the Wega model. These stoves are made in Austria although they no longer make this model. It runs so much different than my Quadrafire it took a little time just to get use to the sound as it changes both fuel and air rate depending on power setting where the Quad runs at a fixed rate. I clean both stoves once a week and this Austroflamm just really came to life once i introduced some clean fresh air through the OAK. I will get a few more pics of it tomorrow but for now this is one of the trusty old Quadrafire

Hey everyone im in need of some help please. I am looking to sell my fireplace insert and i have almost no clue as to how much it is worth. I've done an image research and found out it is a Quadra-Fire 1100i. I've only seen one just like it for sale on ebay for around $1000 but im not to sure. any one here know what i can get for it?

I recently posted just such a question (I also just bought an Integra off Craig's List) and you've convinced me the OAK is something I need to do. Thanks!

Would really appreciate your experience once you do. This is something I keep going back and forth on.

Maybe u should make a survey thread. Might depend wat model though.

I shall repeat, the older austroflamms do not have a sealed tube for oak.Look inside the left panel, there is a 2" gap between the mass air flow sensor tube and the back panel with the oak connector. It uses a blend of outside and inside air.If stove is not running constantly, there will be a draft into house, unless oak has some way to prevent this.I shut my stove off a lot,so do not run one.1992 intega.Bob

Hi,Mr Williamson,my comment was mostly for rkbaguy,as he has an old integra.By the way still running my old circuit board untill I can afford to sent it to Jim.I can heat the board,it comes alive, and heat from stove keeps it alive untill shutdown!Bob

Bob, not sure about your old Integra but my Wega (1994) is a direct connection for the OAK, absolutely no gap what so ever. As is my new Integra II

I am planning on closing that gap once I install my Integra insert for that reason. As long as I can get sufficient air flow, I should be good. The air flow sensor will compensate for any restriction or draft in my OAK pipe, assuming the combustion blower has enough ooomph. There is no inlet air damper on these stoves.Mine is a 1995, as best I can tell.
