Greetings everyone and Happy New Year! I just wanted to share my story about how i found this site. I have been heating the upstairs of my home now for 10 years with a Quadra-Fire 1100i and after experimenting with wood, coal, and baseboard electric in my basement i decided to look for a good used pellet stove. After talking to many pellet burning guru's i was told that Austroflamm made one the best pellet burners ever and low and behold one happened to pop up on craigslist only about an hour away from me. So i struck up a deal with the lady who had it for sale (she said she wasnt home enough to mess with it) and within a few days i was heating my basement with pellets. Well kinda... this kraut of a stove just didnt compare to my Quad upstairs. I knew it wasnt the pellets as i was burning Barefoots (been down the road with cheap pellets) So... i started doing some research online and found this site. After reading all the threads about the importance of an OAK i ordered all the material i needed from McMaster-Carr and installed my OAK. Well the rest is history and all i can say to everyone on this site is thank you!! The Austroflamm is like a totally different stove now, I mean the results were amazing.
So my advice to anybody out there running a pellet stove without an OAK...if at all possible INSTALL one ASAP. It literally was like night and day the way it changed this stove.
Thanks again to everybody on this site!!
