Cubex or Okanagon - Which is hotter?

According to Jay T's past testing, the Cubex have the most BTU's. But, the Oakies aren't far behind. IMO, get 2-3 bags of each and test them in your stove.....everyones set-up is different.

The output from the Cubex was 269 °F, and the Oakies were 262 °F .

Your right cold Tues, Wed. and Thursday. Never burnt the Cubex before, but on warm days like today I've been burning MWP, and when the nights are really cold it's back to the OKIEs for the heat output.

What's a decent price for the Oakies? I realize I'll pay more this time of year but just trying to get an idea. Place in So. Maine wants $299 a ton...$289 for the Cubex...Are these reasonable prices?

Not sure about reasonable but Okies around here are $289 to $310 per ton. I picked up a couple of bags to try. Cubex not available. Some other hot pellets you can try are Barefoots and Blazers. Price wise the Barefoots are pretty close. Blazers are at a premium about $335/ton. I picked up ten bags to try but at that price not sure if I'll be able to afford them!

http://www.squierlumber.com/pages/stock_status.cfm Squier (Monson) has the Oakies for $279, but during their spring sale, the price is $239. The past couple of years the bags seem to have a lot of fines, but the heat output is excellent.

If you can get them...Cubex. MY favorite.

In Southern Maine the only pellet dealers that I am aware of are Southern Maine Renewables (Windham. http://www.woodpellets4me.com/pellets-pricing.html ) @$299 a ton, and SIB (Jay, http://site.sibwoodpellets.com/) @298 a ton.
I'd call Steve at SIB his delivery prices are very good.

I've burned both and felt the oakies were (unscientifically) better in terms of heat output, but not by much.

I head there's some bad batches of cubex floating around this year too, so i'd be even more inclined to go with the oakies out of those 2 choices.

I found a guy in Lisbon Falls today that carries the Oakies. Just a small outfit that sells Oakies, Canawick, Spruce Point and Maine Choice...nice guy!! I grabbed a 1/2 dozen Oakies and a couple Canawicks to try. I was hoping he had some Spruce Point,which I would like to try, but he was out. Here's the link if your interested:
