Picked up 4 bags of Quality 1 pellets from local HD this weekend. Burns ok and not bad on the ash. Pellets are light colored with a smell that's akin to 2X4 pine studs. Actually found a 3" piece of debris that looks like construction lumber. Pellets were in .5" range and had a tacky feel to it. Not sure if this batch was exposed to too much moisture, but they were easy to crush with bare fingers. Anybody else tried these?

Post a picture of the bag later today.

Here's the pic of the packaging. Zero info on where, when, what it was manufactured. It does tell you that the bag is made Canada. The other pic is of a piece of debris I found in 1 of the bag. Its about 3" long by 1" wide.

I notice a HUGE difference in these, but I'm reserving total judgement. I have one ton of stove chow and one ton of these. These pellets are broken into super small pieces, they also seem to be FULL of fines. I almost need to wear a mask when putting them in the stove. So much dust!!!

Also, it may have just been a night or two but it seemed like I burned through these like nothing. With stove chow or others I'm running about 2.5 - 3 bags per 24 hours (harmon pf-100 runs 24/7) and with these it seemed like I went through three bags over night.

I bought 7 bags a couple of weeks ago from Home Depot for $3.50 a bag. Even at this price, I would not buy again. Incredibly high fines and ash. I have one bag left, and I am not looking foward to burning it. There are much better "choices" out there.

never herd of these pellets, but they sound real bad, I hope you have something better to burn tonight it's going to be to cold for crap pellets.

Bought a bag a couple weeks ago to try....TONS of fines and didn't burn that good but the pellets smelled great...like fresh cut plywood or something...won't be buying anymore of these....like the other poster said, absolutely no information on the bags...I wonder who makes these?

I heard they are a rebagger outfit. I guess they buy bulk pellets and bag them as Q1 brand. Last I heard they were rebagging Mainewoods. But they could be using whatever pellet they can get their hands on for all that matters. So not sure what I got is 100% but its close!

Love my little birdy friends! :)

Thanks for the info Jay!

I just got home and these things managed to burn through 3.5 bags in about a 9.5 half hour period in my pf 100. With stove chow or some others I go with about 2.5 bags in a 24 hour period.

Hey at least the debris is the right material for burning! With some pellets, you get random unknown debris!

ha! problem with that is I seriously cough and sneeze sometimes when i empty a bag into the hopper. there's just soooo much dust. Also, i have a feeling that dust contributes to the nastiness i have to get out when cleaning the furnace. The fine box (or whatever its called) is FULL when those go through.

I have 6 tons of MWP and 1 ton of Quality One. I have found them pretty much dust free, but I don't think there as good as MWP. They also came from HD.

My Q1 bags were not dusty, just a bit of fine at the bottom of the bag. My Genevas on the other hand are like opening a dust storm and plenty of fines to boot. I wear a cheap painting respirator when I pour the through my DIY pellet sifter. My stove is in a living space, so no way am I dumping these straight into the hopper from the bag. The first time my wife opened the garage door, when she got home, seeing the mask, pellet sifter, bags of pellets, and all the vacuum hoses probably suspected I was running a meth lab or something.

Ground up tire bits. Super hot burns but your neighbors have to deal with the watery eye syndrom....
Please don't try this at home.
