After reading on Hearth.com about the SuperCedars, and putting them on my X-Mas list, I am very happy with them. Taking the advice of others, I cut them into fourths, and then put that on a piece of bark, put some scrap wood on top slowly, and voila, a nice fire in a few minutes. No messing with paper, all the ash, blowing on coals.

A truly refined way to start a fire. Seeing as I only start a cold fire 25 times a year probably...6 Super Cedars a year is all I'd use. A nominal price to pay for convenience. The best part is everyone asking why you asked for hockey pucks for X-Mas

+1 bro. Personally, I will never go back to gasoline.

If you wanna go to the next level you gotta start adding ECO-BRICKS to the equation.

You don't have any choice about going back.. if you soak a SC in gas, it just breakes down into mush.. probably a design flaw...lol.

But yes, the SC's are the cat's meow. I have given away about half as many as I have burned, and everyone I gave a few to ordered some. I have found that I just put full sized splits in, set a 1/4 SC down in the middle, and away she goes.

i love them to. but i dont use all that often in the stove. used a half of one in october and havent let it die since. just one time when i took the cat out but i put the coals in a container and lit the stove again that way. i seem to use them more on my hiking trips as a fire starter and outside when lighting fires there. they work great even if the wood is a little wet. they just keep burning strong.

I too am in love with the supercedar. I was using a .25 of one but just starting using a half so I don't have to even think about it after lighting the match. My fiance loves them too. She makes fire now and is not intimidated by it (she's a girly girl). Got some ice fishing trips planned for this winter and will break em out in front of my friends. They'll be impressed. Who wouldn't? I must say that I was mailed a free sample of two cedars to try out prior to laying my cash down. That was a nice gesture and now I am a regular user.

That's not a joke. I knew an old timer who used them to start a wood fire in his 55g drum stove.

Same here. I was given 2 to try and I ordered 100. I had samples sent to 2 friends but havent gotten feedback from them. Some people are stulck in their ways I guess, but these things just cant be beat for the money.

What website are you ordering super cedars from? How do I get samples? Thanks in advance for your help.

I love 'em too. I'm going to have to order more soon--I've been starting an average of 2 fires a day since it's still mostly shoulder season in SE Mass. Supercedars plus Eco Bricks make restarts painless.

Thomas is a top quality dude with a top quality product. Give them a test drive. I have found that using firestarters such as these have completely eliminated the need for kindling of any kind. Stack the splits for a little air flow underneath, place the starter under the splits and light. Ya just made fire.

Used one quarter to start a fire this morning, no kindling. It was before coffee and I didn't want to have to babysit the fire. 15 minutes later she was burning nicely. They are the bomb!

I should have my 100ct coming in today or tomorrow. I've blown through them this season...as it's been an almost perpetual shoulder season (not that I am complaining, mind you). I also hand out a few to my dad every season to have on hand at home and at my grandmother's place. Great service, great product, and an active member on the forum. You can hardly ask for more.

That's what made these a deal for me right there, no kindling. I have no problems splitting the stuff up but if I can skip it, I'm not complaining! I've used maybe 1/8 the kindling that I normally would have at this point in the year. Only use it when starting for a low coal bed now. Using that little is saying a lot considering I've had to start about 8x more fires than normal since it's been so warm.

Wife used to struggle starting the fire from cold but not anymore.

Plus they smell good! Some other firestarters I've tried smell like they have kero or something in them. I don't like that.

Can't say enough good about these things.

Ive been using them for years! I also started with the free samples, and switched from fat wood to the pucks. Quartered and some bark and lift off, Thanks again Tom for keeping them stocked and reasonably priced!

Let the stove die out last night and did a full cleanout of the ash. Put 1/4th of a SuperCedar on a pine block and put my little splits around it. Next thing you know. Nice fire.

Got my 100ct with gloves today. The FedEx guy left them on my in-laws' porch by mistake, but they were in the dry during all this rain, at least! The gloves are nice and heavy. I gave them to my grandmother as a gift this afternoon. I hope she'll enjoy them. Thanks again, Thomas, for the wonderful product and the Hearth.com discounts/benefits. :)

I agree, I love them as well! They completely changed my woodburning experience, since I regularly start from a cold stove.

I use a quarter of one to start my stove if I don't have coals. I go through a box of 100 in a little over 2 seasons.

got my 100 ct today with the free gloves!!! these things are great!!!!

I particularly like them for during-the-week when I have to relight when I get home. They've cut the time until effective heat by at least 30 minutes which is a big deal if I get home at 9 and want to have the upstairs warm and the fire cruising by 10 or 10:30.

That song "You're Simply the Best" by Tina Turner sums it all up when talkin Super Cedars.
"You're simply the best, better than all the rest..."
Free samples people....you do not know what you are missing... ;-)
