In The Woods
We were going to do this about a month or so ago, looks like Saturday is the day. This will be a new stacking area for last weekends Cherry, looks like some cables use with the winch on the Cherry and the Pine might be ok without.

If this goes well I should be splittin & stackin Saturday & Sunday.

Is that an underground utility box?

I'm not sure if this is the correct name but I call it a transformer (most likely I'm wrong) but yes the power runs to & out of it.

Hopefully Saturday night Loon, looks like I could fit another 6 - 8 cord if I want.

I seem to remember these pics awhile back zap. Figured you would've/ shouldve had this done by know? Aim right for that transformer and you'll miss it for sure! Lol....:)

Sorry Zap, This one is for the taking:

Careful you don't drop those puppies on that transformer or it may be making a sound similar to that of your name :)

HAHAHA very true.

They are also usually filled with oil to keep them cool.

On the bad leaners, I've tied them off pulling against the lean until I have the notch & back cut, then let them go.
Don't want a barber chair.
I carry a "grapple hook" (trap drag) to throw up as high as I can for problem trees. Has worked out to be pretty useful a few times,
even it I get a stuck one, I can throw the grapple hook & sometimes pull it down.

wishlist, you're correct it should've ben done about a month ago. I decided to s/s stuff we had on the ground.

rayg, quick thinking but lets hope old sparky stays inside the transformer.

scoooter, I'm positive this is PCB free which I take means no oil, correct me if I'm wrong.

bogydave, I'll have the tuf-tug with a rope on the pine, the cable and the winch on the back of the Rhino will be hooked to the Cherry which is the one I worry about the most.

Yep, almost looks like the pine is supporting the Cherry, I'll get a better look Saturday morning.

PCB, polychlorinated biphenyls, is a chemical that was used in the transformers because it's non flammable. But it's toxic, so they quit using it. Today they use a silicon based fluid. So it still has oil inside of it, it doesn't contain PCB though.... Gotta keep it cool somehow :)

will do yooperdave, I'll get a better look Saturday morning but it should be fine.

Scoooter, thanks for the info on the oil.

ensure you leave room for their right of way

All the buried lines along with a nice wide path for a truck or even bigger will be left open. All the stacking will be well behind the transformer, the deer like the area in front of the transformer because of the berries that grow in that area so I would never stack in that area.

Dunragit, thanks for the reminder.

Zap, I will keep an eye on CNN tomorrow for unexpected power outages in the ny area! Lol....:)

HehHeh . . . several years back my Uncle brought down a tree on a main power line while working on some family land near Rt. 1 in Belfast . . . took out quite a bit of the City's power . . . I'm not really sure what if anything he had to pay for that mishap.

And my brother brought down some lines while cutting a tree over on the family land in Thorndike . . .

Me . . . I know I stink at cutting down trees so I don't cut anywhere near power lines of any sort.
