I recently hooked up a forced air blower from my BIS Nova to a bedroom on the opposite side of the house. It works great and heats the room efficiently but i recently noticed a wood smoke smell in the bedroom. Is this normal and what could be causing it? Is it possible that dust settling in the box can be causing the smell?

We have a BIS Nova, but could not fit the duct work in the chase so did not install the forced air kit.

Is the external blower you're using a factory blower from BIS/Lennox?

No i made the forced air kit myself for a fraction of the price. I figured out why it was happening though... Because when it's running it sucks air in around the front of the stove, when i open the door if it's not burning well it sucks smoke in and blows it to the bedroom. I realized it only smells down there when i open the door to the stove.

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps the flow rating on the blower you used is higher than the factory unit.

I'm guessing that people are disappointed in the performance of the forced air option because the air flow is too light, to prevent the problem you're having.
