I'd hate to have to walk through those ashes every time I went to the wood pile. No, I don't think they'd help much at all anyway.

Add water and mix ashes until you get a nice smooth paste, them apply all over body and let dry for approx. 1 hour. Wash off gently with warm water for a great exfoliating treatment. ;-)

For any hunters out there. An old saline nose spray container filled with fine ash makes a great windicator for the field. Shake, give two puffs toward the sky. Works even in still air.

If you don't want them for all the uses already stated, put an ad on Craig's List - works for me.

Just make sure you advertise them as "seasoned"!

Spread on lawn but in the driveway they track in horrible.Kills that darned moss.

I put them in the backyard firepit (built a nice stone sunk-in firepit last spring) until they get cool and damp. Then I haul them over to the garden where I spread them out and when spring comes, the ashes, along with all the leaves I mulched in the fall, get roto-tilled into the garden......totally recycled......not sure I like the 'spreading in the driveway' idea because I could see that ash being all through our kitchen when it gets tracked in by the kids....lol..

For some reason in 5 months I don't have enough ashes to fill a 5 gallon bucket up? But I save em up and throw them in the chicken yard, they love scratching and pecking in them.

No, I will not model for this...

It's OK, we'll use Danno as the model instead ;-P

do you burn 24/7? We do, and we probably fill up around four or five heaping bucketfuls in a year......if you are only gettin one five gallon bucketful in a whole season burning 24/7, you gotta share how yer doin that!!

Pictures?

I fill a metal pail and set it outside for a week or two and then dump it out in the dumpster. I'm not filtering it out to remove staples, nails, etc so I can dump it on the ground.

Don't know how I've got so few ashes, maybe that's a trait of the stove, been burning since September and have emptied the ash pan 6 times whatever that equates to that's what I got. I'll have to see what the volume is on the ash pan and report back.
