I did a little clean up along the rivers edge this morning. I dropped a standing dead locust on the bank. I cut up an elm that got washed down the river in the last flood. in the third picture with the split, I want to say it is oak?? when winter finally arrives i will be ale to get to the other side of the river and clean up the hill, only if the river freezes.

Like someone else said before, man you guys all have band new looking stihls with no paint off the bar!! I will repeat as im poking fun at you, do you actually cut any wood with those saws?

That was my wifes xmas present to me, LOL i helped her pic it out

Oh no, look out for the river police! ;-) wait for it......lol

I'm kinda in the same boat here.....TONS AND TONS of standing deads and blowdowns on my neighbor's 385 acre farm but the fields are swamped out and I cannot get to the woods......I have a nice setup for my old snowmobile fer getting the wood out but I need SNOW to be able to use it......and guess what its doing in central PA as we speak?.....RAINING.......this has been a lousy winger for us snow lovers.....

Nice pics Doug. Smell that split and you'll know if its oak. Hopefully, neighbors aren't watching! Lol..... Looks like a lot of shale along the bank? :)

Smokinjay, every floater i got my eye on. Scotty OverKill, i don't think it will freeze up this year. and Wishlist i think i'll go stick my nose in it. yes lots of slate, that is were i collected the slate for my hearth

Nice opportunity on the dead wash. I'd probably do the same in your situation.

That reminds me of one of the rivers NE of me about 10 to 12 miles. Lots of slate. But the one closest to me (about 1.5 miles away) is all river rock and sand.

The round to the left of the split looks like oak, but not the split. Cheers!

Split does not look like oak to me either. Maybe popple? Rear window on the P/U looks drafty!
not sure what it is but was nice and hard so i will let it sit for a year and burn it up. LOL, that's what happens to a rear window with a round of cherry

And the reason why i dont throw into an open pickup and also why i dont pile anywood over the front edge of the bed so that in all but the worst extreeme stop it will catch on the front lip. All pieces behind it also will be placed behind the log in front as to allow them something to stop them in like i said all but an accident.

Black locust.

Beautiful place ya got Dug!

When I used to through wood in my truck I would take a piece of plywood and stand it up in front of the window.

Very pretty spot to cut some wood.

Clemsonfor, yes when i threw it up i thought to myself its going to hit the window, and it did. i have fixed it since, and will defiantly place a board in front of it.
