Is it just me....But why is the scroll on computers just on the right side of the screen. All I do is mouse over to the left to click on a topic then move to the right to scroll down, these laptop screens are smaller...back and forth...back and forth. Why don't the put a scroll on the left side too?????? Using Microsoft of course....

um, on a mac, you use two finger drag on the trackpad...no scrollbar needed.

on windows, you can get a mouse with a wheel....ditto

?

My Windows laptop has two finger scroll but most often I just use the arrow keys.

Two-fingered drag works on windows track-pad, too.

Is there a "Middle" button on the mouse? B3 used to activate a scroll feature. Still does on this desktop.

you windows folk have come a long way.

It just seems everything that you need to click on to open these days are on the left side of the screen (even this Forum). Then you need to slide over to the right to scroll. Windows needs to add a scroll on the left, my finger pad is wearing out. Thanks for the info.

Up and down arrows work well too. And don't forget PgDn and PgUp. Those two are great for speed-reading the threads.

Your laptop probably has a scroll feature built into the trackpad and you don't know it. I haven't seen a laptop that doesn't have this feature in a good 10 years. with the cursor in the middle of the window you want to scroll down, run your finger down across the right hand side of the touchpad, it should scroll.

I tend to use PGUP/PGDN or the arrow keys on a laptop myself, I find its just more convenient for me and the way I use a computer.

I hate track pads and use a USB mouse. I just use the scroll wheel to scroll up/down. However, I do see the need of left scroll bars. I use linux and with the newest desktops going to unity or gnome 3 that has everything on the left, might as well have scroll bars there too. Windows 8 will be out sometime soon. It may have everything on the left as well, just need to shell out $200 or so for an upgrade. ;-P
However, if you use Firefox or Chrome, I don't think they have left-hand scroll bars. You could just tap the space-bar?
