I was surfing C. L. this morning and seen these wedges. I have never seen these ever. Have any of you seen these? Frank

THESE ARE VERY RARE . 4 WAY WEDGES FOR SPLITTING FROM ALASKA. WOOD SPLITTING MAULS. BY BEATING ON IT YOU CAN SPLIT YOUR WOOD 4 WAYS. BOUGHT THEM WHEN I WAS IN ALASKA. WORK GREAT. NEVER SEEN THEM ANYPLACE ELSE. COSTS ME $125.00 EACH, USE THEM A COUPLE OF TIMES THEN PUT THEM IN MY COLLECTION. THEY WORK GREAT.
LOST LEG AND NOW MY 40 YEAR OLD COLLECTION HAS TO GO. $50.00 IS A CHEAP PRICE. NEVER FIND THEM ANY PLACE ELSE.

Never seen these specifically, but it looks a lot like my wood grenade that I got at TSC for $9.

Yep..looks similar to the tractor supply wood grenade. I gave one as part of a wedding gift last fall (a splitting wedge and other firewood tools were on the registry). Well, on the bright side.. if they're as old as he says they may have been made state side and not overseas?

If he paid $125 each, he must be pretty proud of those wedges.

"special Alaskan splitting wedges" lol

they are neat though, I would not mind having one
will have to check it out
when I get mine it will be
"A special Ohio splitting wedge"
for a "special" person

These would work in AK on 8" rounds of aspen or birch. Not as useful in the lower 48 on elm, or just a 12" oak with one medium knot in it.

The best thing about a standard wedge/maul is that you can avoid knots pretty easily.
