Well, I had the day off today, as I'd worked my a** off all week and had my hours in by the end of the day Thurs. Decided today was a great day to do a FULL cleaning on the stove after 67 bags.....supposed to get pretty cold this weekend and into next week.

Ripped out both blowers, auger motor & auger, emptied & cleaned the hopper, and pulled the firepot w/ stirrer, "firebrick", and ash trap doors and proceeded to give her a complete going over. Removed both fans from the motor shafts and cleaned everything (and found out that they're both held on with T20 torx set screws).

I also finally remembered to rotate the conv. blower motor on the housing so the oil holes were facing up. Ran a drill bit through all the firepot holes, and knocked off some hard burned on ash with a 1" chisel.

One interesting thing was that the comb. blower fan blades had almost no ash build-up at all, and the plenum where the blower sits was almost completely clean....no ash to vacuum up at all!

T-cap was just about 1/2 full, and the pipe was almost like it was last summer after I did the final spring cleaning.....NICE!!

Put everything back together w/ new gasket on the comb. blower, oiled the motors, and dumped in some fresh Lignetics in the hopper.

Well, it was worth it. The dog found her spot in front as soon as I finished cleaning up and fired the stove off.

Looking Good..... Gotta love a clean stove.

What setting is the heat level on? (For that flame size/ 3?) Just wondering. I have been looking at an M-55 steel. But that CPM is a Beauty too. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions ......

Good job

Just curious...how long did that cleaning take you?

Good job

That is on 5/6....the flame was just small for a minute between small auger dumps. It was higher than that before & after the pic.

EDIT:

Here's a non-flash pic:

Well, all told it was about 4 hours. I'm pretty anal about getting everything just right, so I'm slower than a lot of people.

Yep, she's a cutie. I got her from a shelter, and was told she's a Border collie, but I think she's a McNab variant. Lots of energy, very loving, and HAS to sleep on the bed at my feet. :)

Nice dog. Getting a dog from the shelter is the best way to go! I get mine from the shelter as well. Oh, and the stove is nice too!

Good for you, gotta love dogs, they're better than some people.

I took mine apart yesterday. But nothing with the augar. Didn't know I should do anything beside vacuum unless it is not working. I'll have to look into that. I am on my 4 th year and no problems. I credit it to you folks educating us on the need to keep the stove clean.
Your friend looks happy. Nice to have a friend who doesn't give you lip.
My two chocolate labs also get up on our bed. They are over 100 pounds each! Very good with all the grand children. Never growls or nips, but the do love to lick. With so many grand children running around, we checked out the dog's parents just to make sure there was no family history of aggressive behavior. These are the most gentle dogs we have ever owned.

wow imacman very impressive, i thought my cleaning was enough until i read your post. if you had a video of that i am sure people would watch every second. now i need to figure when i can do a RECLEAN.

ps looks like your dog is getting as man compliments as your stove cleaning

A job well done doesn't have time limits. ;-) Hopefully rewarded with a cold one or even 2! :cheese:

Is that the original paint job on the brick's?
