Flame coming up from behind flame guard on Harman Accentra anyone know what can cause this? We thought it was because the stove needed to be cleaned, took the stove apart started her up flames coming up normally in burn pot and also slightly from behind flame guard. Is this a hazard? Any tips? Do you think I need a new flame guard?

Are you sure the flame guard is on correctly? During your normal cleaning, do you brush the grooves on the flame guide that rest on the burn pot ?
My last several cleanings, I've noticed a carbon build-up on the flame guide that I needed to scrape off. Are you experiencing the same heat output since you noticed the different flame pattern?

Yes the flame guard in on correctly. My hubby always takes the flame guard outside and scrapes off the carbon build up, not sure if he brushed the grooves, gotta ask him when he gets home. Same heat output. After I adjusted the feed to 2 it took a while but the flames stopped coming up from behind the flame guide, we still had a small flame behind the burn pot in the right hand corner, that took awhile but has stopped also. We are burning Hamer Hot Ones and have been all season. Im wondering since we had the stove since 2008 if we need to purchase a new flame guard. This morning he noticed that the ash buildup was pushing the flame guard out of the groves which is what we thought was causing the flames to be coming up from behind it. We find it strange since it gets scraped quickly daily. He also has been cleaning the stove every 2 weeks. Hubby said he will clean it every week now seems like the carbon is building up more in the burn pot than it did when we first got the stove.
