Anybody have any input on Powerhouse Pellets? They are made in Aquashicola PA, made of 100% Pa hardwood. I looked in the pellet section on this forum I havent seen anybody mention them.

They are same as Great Americans.

I have the same question. I found 2 places near me (SE PA) that sell them and I'm a little worried. they have a website

Where? I am in SE PA would like to get some.

Powerhouse = rebranded Great American pellets which are reported to be a good pellet. Many people here replied that they are burning them and liked them when I inquired about them.

My dealer carries the Great Americans but are out of them. I am burning C&C Smith which other than initial problems with my first batch, are burning great. I am now very happy with the ones I've been burning since that initial 20 or so bags. But, I want to get my hands on some more just in case, as I am starting to use slightly more than one bag a day now that the cold weather is starting to show up.

you can get them from www.helverson.com or an independent guy named Paul in Germanville, PA...phone # is 610-721-6505. Paul charges 210/ton plus delivery

helverson charges 225/ton plus delivery

they both sell powerhouse. I don't know Paul. I just called him today for the first time. I've used helverson...they are good people.

I'm glad you like the C and C. I might wind up with them...we'll see

thanks
luke

The batch of power house I have has some long ones in it. Well over 2 inches and lots of them. FYI only. But I'd check the batch your getting. IMHO long pellets kill the heat output. I can't get enough heat from this batch to be a cold season pellet. I'll finish them off in the spring shoulder season. I'm a bit disappointed they are out of spec.

Just started Power House 1 week ago. My Harman P61 went out 4 times in 5 days. No pellets in auger. Mixed 50/50 with Tree cycle now works fine. Very disappointed with pellets also. Been burning 11 years and never had problem with any type of pellet.

I've burned 1.5 tons so far and they are a good cheap pellet. However-like mentioned before- the long ones have jammed up my stove about 10 times. Not a major issue but 2+ inches for a pellet is a bit long. I try to break them as I pour but miss many. All in all they burn just fine with moderate ash. I'd buy more but wouldnt ever pay more than 230/ton for them.

I was just contacted by Jeff Nichols of GAP/PowerHouse pellets about the long pellets. They did produce some batches in the early part of the season, But it has been corrected with the later stuff. They have made strides to produce an even better pellet.

He offered to exchange them if I was having issues with bridging. But my stove is a beast and eats them no problem. Just reduced heat for lack of volume feed to the burn pot. Not a biggie for me, But could be for some! So if you are having troubles contact Jeff. He'll work with you on this early production issue! Seems like a stand up guy, And a stand up company!

Thanks Jeff!

i went thru a half ton now and have no complaints, some pellets are longer but not a problem in the old whit either. im liking them and getting them cheaper than the big box stores are selling those crapy stove chows for around here.

Glad to hear it. I definitely want to get some of these.

I also had an issue with a couple of bags of GAP's that had long pellets caused a bridge problem in my stove fortunately I was home at the time. The flame is dying auger is turning but no clinking sound of pellets dropping, thanks to this forum I knew what the problem was reach down in the bottom of the hopper clear the bridge problem solved, Thank you Hearth . com and all the great members.

Jay man it's nice to hear that Jeff was in contact with you, makes me feel really good about this company, accountability we had a bad batch let's make it right. Picked up another 20 bags last week no long pellets found and with the recent cold snap a VERY WARM house, a high quality pellet at a fair price. FYI my pellet dealer also had Hammer's but at almost $ 1.50 a bag more no thank you. That money saved can be used on my other hobby drinking beer.

Will, I am sure you just put a big smile on Jeff's face! ;-)

He will see it, He is also a member here, But tries to stay out of the lime light. Doesn't want to ruffle any feathers or anyone to feel he's advertising his goods here.

Thanks for the replay Jay. I hope I made Jeff's day because he gets it. Treat your clients right ,word of mouth is the best advertisement you can buy. I've been on board with GAP's since day one, they are a local company and I want them to succeed.

After seeing this I called Jeff about my concern. He was very appologetic and offered to bring out replacements, but couldnt say when, or I could bring them out. I loaded up 37 bags and headed out last friday. Jeff was not there, but the receptionist was very helpful. Did the swap and some for my trouble. Did not get to burn the new ones, but am very happy with customer service.
Thanks for the contact info.
