i'll agree with that !...bought 4 bags yesterday to try out, after hearing
so many good things about how softwood throws more heat then hardwood..

threw a bag in yesterday during the day, temps in the mid 20's outside...68-70
inside, and actually LOST heat in the house...cleaned them out and went back
to Barefoots

Yup my fire sides put out more heat... Won't be buying those again.

I had a ton a couple of years back. They were clean and burned good, but they were long and had to be smashed up to get good heat output.
Just my findings.

well must say you are comparing them to barefoots, one of the hottest pellets. i like spruce points very comparable to okies

I would question how they compare to Okies... When I burn okanagan's I run my stove setting three (high/low) and a bag will last me 14 - 17 hours with temps in the twenties... The spruce point bag will last MAYBE 12 with the same outside conditions. They are real low in ash though, in that respect I would say the two are comparable.

I really like the Spruce Pointes, good heat and low ash but leaves my stove dirty. Seems the ash blows and sticks to ALL the walls. Makes cleaning more of a hassle. I have a couple of bags of Okies to try for comparison. Heatwise, the Barefoots win hands down. In my short pellet burning career, Barefoots are absolutely my favorite pellet with the most heat and least amount of ash. Plus my stove just seems to prefer them for some reason. I do like the smell of the SP a lot.

So how many tons of SP are you picking up tomorrow? I'm sure you can squeeze another minimum two tons in with your stash! LOL.

Despite being a bigbox brand, Firesides are really a not too shabby a pellet. IMHO, above the shoulder rating for sure.
