I thought I would also give an update as one person posted earlier that he never hears any thing on this new line of stoves from Vogelzang.

Coldest night of the year for me last night. Got down to 9 degrees but no wind.

This stove is about 2.2 Cubic foot in size its rated to heat 2200 square foot but I am asking more from it as its in my basement in the back half as the front half of my basement is my garage with garage doors. I am in the process of making a family room down there but still need to put up an insulated wall as a divider but I do have some what of a barrier about half way across keeping some of the heat in the back part using some shelving and wardrobe cabinet and an upright freezer provides a separation somewhat.

The garage doors are not insulted so that end of the basement is pretty leaky as in cold air comes in but the door is sealed pretty good so to minimize cold air down there at that end.

The size of the basement is around 1600 square foot as not the entire house is under basement. The upstairs is 1900 sqft .

The house is a ranch style and was built in the late 60's I have new energy efficient windows and about 15 years ago I put extra blown in insulation in the attic for a total of 18" depth at the time. Walls have same insulation that was put in when the house was built in the late 1960's.

So with it 9 degrees last night I woke up at 7 am house was 70 degrees in the main central area of the house. Plenty of coals in the stove almost too much.

I am a happy camper as last year my baseboard electric heat was getting my electric bill up around 500 dollars a month in the coldest part of the winter. So far this winter bill is around $200 so far. Family of 5 and all electric house. I got this stove for $699 at a Menards sale.

I am glad you are having a good experience with Vogelzang just be careful as I discovered on my old EPA Durango there was no supports in the top of the stove. They did not fold the steel for strength nor use good quality steel or paint. I am not trying to discourage you I think they have made many improvements since I purchased my old stove. The Performer looks much better than the Durango was!

Congrats on the price and enjoy the heat.

Nothing like saving some money and staying warmer in the process..good to hear!

Pete , hows that electric splitter working for ya?

I love it that thing is acctually pretty powerful! It splits everything I can throw at it with the exception of super notty stuff I use a manual splitter to bust the notty stumps in half and the electric takes it from there. I can say if this one dies I will buy another without hesitation although I will probably upgrade to a 7 ton so I won't need the manual splitter anymore for the notty stuff.

I'm really enjoying my Performer. We finally got a few days of colder weather here and I'm still able to keep the furnace from running and am heating 2400 sq ft with it. I modified my stove to fit into a fireplace, and I don't think I could've found a stove that puts out the heat this one does that would fit into my fireplace. The Englander 30nc wouldn't work because the air control is on the bottom of the stove so it couldn't sit on the fireplace floor. The base on the Performer allows plenty of clearance for the doghouse and secondary air intakes.

Glad your warm.
That looks like my old colonial insert, that was only 1.6 cuft. A bit small for my needs.
Other than say the general quailty, the stove burned clean and served me well. I knock on it a bit much now, but i cant forget it was helping keep my heating bills down. I give it thanks for that. She went to a good home too.

It's good to get some more feedback on the Performer. That looks like a pretty nice setup. Thanks for posting the shot.

Sounds like a decent stove and at $699.00 it has paid for itself in short order.. Thanx for posting the review and good to hear that Vogelzang is moving in the right direction! The pic of the stove in the brick fireplace looks very nice..
