They sell those grill grates with legs to stand up out of the coals, seen them at a few camping supply stores, redhead, cabelas, w/e you have close by. IMO Stew on a trivet on the stove top is about as good as it gets, especially when you have to be out in the cold all day, always have some hot food ready to warm you up when you get in! Like that video too "on that bike that don't go nowhere...."

You know its funny, I cook over hardwood coals all the time while I am camping. Grilling steaks, burgers....you name it, we cook it over the coals. I always have a fire going off to the side of the cooking area and just rake in new coals as needed. The funny thing is I have never even thought about doing it at home, when we got the big snow storm in October that knocked out our power I was outside cooking on my camp stove and gas grill. I had the stove running so if I had thought about it I could have just stayed in where it was warm and cook on/in the stove!! Guess I will have to remember that next time. Oh yeah, I agree, just look at any camping store and you will find numerous choices with folding legs, one of them should be a size that will work for you.

Heated up the Red Hot Buffalo Dip on the stove yesterday afternoon. Mostly saving propane vs getting creative. Worked fine and enjoyed that while the Giants made Grilled Cheese out of the Packers.

yea Rodgers couldn't do it all by himself, receivers couldn't hold onto the ball and Rodgers was the best rusher, kinda sad, should have beaten the giants easily. The sad part is the giants will probably get blown out by the Niners.

Grilled some Pork Tenderloin too.
Yes I had to throw on a couple of charcoal Bricks. I waited too long to start cooking
This is getting fun and Tasty!

my brother cooks lots of stuff in or on his earth stove.....between the wood stove and the microwave, he seldom turns on the gas stove in the kitchen.

This topic is making me hungry.

Most of the time when i eat soup beans i cook them on the stove.

So, will someone name a good quality brand of Dutch oven that could be used on top of my Progress? AND would it be okay directly on the top or would a piece of soapstone between it and the stove be better? How about popcorn on the stove? How do y'all do that--outside or in? Thanks--
