was at the dump with the company car (Chevy Impala) and loaded half dozen nice sized pine rounds in my back seat over by the wood chipper........anyone know best way to remove sap from the upholstery? (cloth seats) - thanks fellow scroungers!

Llama, I have been told by a member on this site( he splits vertical and uses a milk crate) that mayo will remove it from your hands. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try it on the seats.

Why bother?
Just get rid of the seats, you'll be able to transport more wood that way. ;-)

However, if you aren't that dedicated to scrounging you could probably do it with some acetone or dry cleaning liquid (Tetrachloroethylene).

From the OP's post: ..."company car"... :gulp:

Your putting wood in the Company car!!! I would get that out before some Exec sits on it and ruins a $100 pair of pants or $150 dress.

Dude does that thing not have a trunk? Why would you put wood in a car? I guess its all you have.

I am CEO of Lllama Industries.......too much crap in my trunk and backseat was empty - don't ever buy a company fleet vehicle coming off lease - they are treated worse than rentals!

try peanut butter

or try a bug and tar remover (keep the windows open for ventilation) '

if it was my car - i'd take an ice cube to it and then when the sap is hard just try to scrape it off - any residual you could place a paper bag on the spot and use a warm iron - the iron should heat the sap enough that it would soak into the paper bag (kind of like what you do with candle wax on carpet)

I'd try olive oil if it was my car. Works great for taking tung oil of my hands, and smells better than some alternatives. Then soap and water to remove the oil.

I'm not sure what will work . . . but if you try all of the suggestions you may or may not get the pitch removed, but you will have a great smelling car . . . if you like the smell of mayonaise, peanut butter or olive oil. ;)
