Good Evening,

I have in my pellet stove some Oakies. When I have the stove on Softwood pellet setting the flame is large and lazy and leaves black soot on the class and other parts of the stove, but when I change it back to Hardwood setting the flame is perfect; a nice white hot flame and no soot. What would this effect other than feed rate? I have cleaned the stove.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Blair

hardwood has more air and less feed so whatever one works better is the one i would use if you want to run on softwood you could also try adjusting the flame height setting

Whatever gives you the best burn is ok, I am burning hardwood Turmans using corn setting, this is a low feed rate setting and I actually use the high elevation setting and get great burns.

I had best results with the sunflower setting when burning Oakies.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I just have it set on Hardwood and its working fine, but I am still going to talk to my dealer. Also, I see we have a Ravens Fan.....should be a good game this Sunday.
