Hi,

A strange one to me....

Came home expecting to fire up the Qudrafire 1200 and exhaust blower start ... the auger never did.
Cleaned out the stove where I usually do (I have had the stove for 4 years) and the flue.
Just did seasonal maint. on the stove in September.

Still no auger motor.

Removed all the pellets and put about a cup or so of pellets in....everything was fine.
Then the auger motor stopped again. Pressed the call button ...nada.

As the hopper was pretty much empty, for the heck of it I tapped on the inside....viola..... auger motor started back up again...:-O

So I am guessing either the auger is freezing up for some reason -or- there's a loose connection somewhere or - ????.

The auger works for about 10 minutes or so then stops......

Any help is greatly appreciated.....THANKS!

I would have to think its a loose connection. Maybe shut the stove down, let it cool and UNPLUG it before you take a look. Could be the auger motor connections or on one of the safety switches. Good Luck and let us know what you find!

Did you clean out (blow out) the vacuum switch tube, when you did your cleaning??

Pull rubber hose off of vacuum switch (mounted on back left hand side, above combustion blower on back grill) and blow through hose to the stove to remove built up fines.

Dont blow air toward switch. Pull hose off switch and blow toward stove.

Worth a shot. (Stove unplugged)
.

Tried blowing thru the vacuum hose (towards the stove).... is it suppose to be easy to do?
If not then I am guessing there's some blockage in the tubing...never new about do this
so I don' t know if not having done it for about 4 seasons (about 12 tons of pellets) could be the issue.

Looks like a real pain to get hose back on the stove area if I pull both ends off (one at the vacuum switch and the other attached to the stove around the auger housing)....if I do so no idea how to get it back on as the space appears to be very tight.

Take the cover off inside the hopper.. The cover where you adjust the Feed gate. Should be easy access there.

It should be like blowing through a straw. If not, its plugged. Do you have a small air compressor or a can of compressed air? You can use it to blow through to the stove. And hopefully blow out the clog. If the stove does not sense vacuum, then the auger wont turn.

DexterDay,

Man that seems to have done the trick! .... got the vacuum tubing all cleared out....
fired up the Quadrafire .... all is well again (at least for the past 40 minutes).

I'll be sure to make that a part of the regular seasonal checklist :)

Still hope'n, but so far so good.... THANKS! Much Appreciated

And...thanks to all for the replies.
