Hello all!

I was recently able to acquire a ton of "Lignetics" pellets at my local Tractor Supply ($4.29 a bag via a ton!). I have not burned any yet, since I want to deplete my supply of "Nation's Choice" before I go into the "Lignetics". I am hoping my luck with the "Lignetics" I purchased this month, will be comparable to the "Lignetics" I burned last year. However, (via) packaging, these do not appear to be the same "Lignetics" that I got last year. Last years' "Lignetics" were packaged in white plastic bags with green print ... this years' supply is packaged in white bags with blue print.

My question ... is anyone aware of any difference in the pellets? Does the bag coloration have a significance? (sorry, influenced by the difference between Jack Daniels' "green label' versus "black label"!

Any and all advice is appreciated!

I have come across four different types of Lignetics pellet fuel. The Green, Blue and Orange bags. All look like the same product. They also make Prest-O-Log pellets! So I have no idea if there is a difference in them but they are all Lignetics!

The blue label Ligs have not performed very well in past "testing" by forum members. The Green label versions (both the all-hardwood and the soft/hardwood blend) perform better.

I have 2 tons of both Green label versions, and the blend seems to give a little more heat. Downside has been more ash from both types than I remember from previous years.

IMO, you should buy a couple (2-3) loose bags to test in your stove before breaking into the ton.

The Orange bags are softwood....I had a ton of those a few years ago, and they burned well back then. Hard to come by in my part of the country.

Two years ago i bought a ton of the green lettered bags from the local lumber yard. They burnt well.Last year got a ton from the same place but they were blue lettered bags.Lots of ash and not as much heat.A friend did the same the the same results.Checked with the yard this year and they are selling the blue bags so i didn't buy any.Just my experience with em.

I have the green label ligs, 4 tons from TSC. Burning very well and putting out great heat. Like imacman I have more ash from them than the green teams I burnt last year, but I deal with it.

I burned the Blue Label Ligs the first year. Won't buy them again! TOOOO much ash. Heat output was ok tho.

Never see the Green Label ones around here nor the Orange labels either.

I am burning the Green label's now. They are my ok pellets. Last year I burned 1 ton of Press-to-Logs, they were terrible. Low heat high ash, lots of fines.

These are burning fine for us.
