That is a heck of a scrounge. That belongs in the thread "Do you have "pending" scrounges? Less than 10 cord does not count"

I have a backlog that is staggering. Just yesterday got back to a huge red oak that I bucked in Feb last year. Needed solid ground to get access to the logs with a truck and it just did not happen until now. Meanwhile, a huge ash dropped 50 feet from those logs. Property across the street had 7 go down in the hurricane. My brother and I are taking all of them; 2 hickory, 2 black walnut, 3 ash. I am only taking one of the hickory trees, but it is huge. The root ball pic below is that tree. Bucked down the the main trunk which has a 50 foot straight run to the root ball. Where I am at now it is 26 inches.

I also don't have property, though I live in a rural area on a half acre lot. Although a scrounge can be found, they are usually reserved for what I call the good old boys club, meaning there is a long standing agreement that it goes to a designated woodburner. All I have to do is get on the list :cheese: . Did manage to get some maple that came down with the Hurricane this summer next door.

At any rate, there is only so much I can do with a 16' saw, a manual wood splitter, and chronic lymphedema in my dominant arm, but I bet I do better than some ladies my age ;-)

A few weeks ago we answered a CL ad for a 60' willow. Again, we have to figure out how to buck the big ole base-the home owner had the rest already bucked and even helped us haul it home with his HD!

My Dad did a roofing job for a guy that had 3 trees come down in the hurricanes 2 24+" Black locust around 50-60 feet and a red maple closer to 30" caliper this summer. He wants them out of there but he is quite particular about driving across his yard. So I bucked it all up and stacked the rounds inside the tree line in an acceptable place for him. I think I am going to just split stack and store there until I can remove it. He said once I get these 3 cleaned up I can get started on the 5 other trees in his woods, 3 red oak 70+feet @24-30" and some shag hickory and some othe olde black locust thats been down for a while but I think Ill take that too. Gonna start splitting this week. should end up with 2-3 years stored. I love splitting forewood i will post some pics this week.

If scrounging includes your own property, then yes. The last 8' of a large white pine in the side yard, another of the same on our property across the road, about 35' of a Spruce, and I just finished a few days ago splitting up the Maple.
Then, there are at least 3 more Spruce that need to come down.
Then, probably in the spring, I'll head to my sis-in-laws place about 3 miles from here to start working on her property. Lots of down oak, maple, and some pine. There's 80 acres next to her that's all state property and I can see quite a bit of down stuff there. Not sure I'll take that since there's so much to do on hers (10 acres).
