Hey everyone it's been a while since I have been on here.. I have just replaced my Englander 25 PDVC with an Englaner 25 EP does anyone have any tips on operation and cleaning that i need to know that is specific to this model? Any input is appreciated..

thanks

ok ok i'll get some pics as soon as i get things cleaned up.. it was around midnight last night when i finally fired her up.. It's been burning for about 12 hours and i already like it way better than my pdvc.. it's burning cleaner and doesn't seem to burn through the pellets as fast..

Congrats on the new stove. A good choice, IMO. x3 on the pics.... ;-)

Oh, btw, I think there has been a couple other new EP owners here lately. My suggestion is to try a search for "25-ep" .....should get you a lot of hits.

I had trouble burning softwood pellets in my old 25epi. Sooted up everything.

NICE!!!!! congrats on the new stove!!!! I just got one myself the other day...... The weather threw a wrench at me installing it this weekend though.....

2 thigs i have already learned about this stove.. the ash builds up at the bottom edge of the door so when you open it up it all falls on the floor. my hopper was very rough and the pellets were not sloding down to the auger very well, I sanded the metal sides and applied graphite to the bare metal and polished it with a piece of paper... nice and smooth now!

And how is it performing at making heat?

It is performing awesome it burns so much better than my pdvc ever did.. I have been running it on heat setting 6 and it keeps my living room a comfy 73° and the dining room where the stove is located is obviously warmer than that..it seems at this heat setting it is also consuming less pellets than my old stove did while putting out just as much if not more heat..as you can tell so far I am very happy with it! I can't wait to try some different pellets in her..

Sounds great.....keep her clean, and you'll be happy.

And considering that you're giving it a "trial by fire" (sorry for the pun...LOL) with the cold weather we're having, you should be really happy when the temps come up a little. And you also have some more "headroom" on the heat setting....NICE!

A easy way to keep the ashes from dropping on the floor when you open the door ---- Open the ash pan about half way, then open the door. The ashes will drop right in the pan. No worries...

Great idea! thanks.. sometimes it's the simple things that are overlooked :)

I have the same problem with the ash falling from the door when opened I keep a small ash bucket with a disposable 3" paint brush and partially open the door with the bucket under the door edge and sweep the ash into the bucket as I open the door. This works well for me, but not everyone in the family has mastered this trick to keep the ash off the floor...

Graham you're a genius! I've just been placing a towel in front of the stove during the cleaning. Gonna pull that ash bin out from now on, but still gonna lay out the towel to put the dirty tools, burnpot, and other ashy stuff onto.
