Nice article, but how does heat his Hot Water and How much does that cost?

$2500 plus the cost of heating hot water? That is still alot!!

I heat the hot water with Oil (225 gallons per year) and Heat the 2,000 sqft house with wood pellets (3 tons per year) all for $1,400 per year!!

You are right it does not talk about hot water.
We use about 350 gal for some heat and hot water and 3.5 to 4 tons of pellets.
We used to use 925 gal before the pellet stove.
We are saving about $750-$850/yr
I pointed the article out to show the direction people are going in because of oil prices.
Funny how these same oil companies do not want to see any alternatives to oil.
MIGHT BREAK THE MONOPOLY!!

I haven't heated with oil since the mid 90's. I don't miss it one bit. But some will just keep paying the oil man or switch to NG. Too much fuss with pellets/wood to bother with is what I keep hearing.

More pellets/wood for us! :cheese:

it is of course......work, to heat with wood, and many people shy away from work. Another reason the country is not what it once was, sadly.

My fear with 100% pellet is that I could see myself forgetting to load the furnace 1 day when it's frigidly cold out and having the pipes freeze. I like keeping the oil around as a backup for this reason.

I think it was Harman that has just the thing to take care of your forgetfulness a 1400 pound auto loader.

But then I sometimes have CRS moments as well and it might have been another stove makers unit.
