Scotty, that sled should really be nice for hauling the wood through the snow. I'd say you did just fine.
Dennis she does a pretty good job. Other than the occasional tinkering or adjustment, but heck, we all need that once in a while! :cheese:

Pic of the hanger out in front of the sled and the antique Stihl 041AV Super that brought it down. I love running the old Stihls. 28" bar with big bucking spikes and full chisel chain made quick work of that hard white oak.

I was then gonna say with the post above this on your response to my comment about the snow machine, damn look at that old Stihl, youd think you were in the 70's when your out there working!! Just kidding you man, but that is an old saw! Cool though.

Clem I'm old skool all the way, brother....lol....I rebuilt that saw almost two years ago, honed and re-ring, carb kit ported intake and exhaust. it's an animal, don't let the old skin fool ya. I was (and still am) trying to find a vintage McCulloch BP-1 (around 1961)....the first 'supercharged' chainsaw ever built...that is a build I want to do someday.....

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought someone had the same wood hauler as me. Mine in a Kawasaki Mule 3010 Trans4X4 Diesel, with a pull behind dump yard trailer with pnuematic tires. Both the mule bed and trailer dump. Have attached some pictures that shows what I have.

mudbug that's a nice machine but when you get a foot and a half of snow on the ground (like we do sometimes here in central PA) you can't beat a snowmobile/sleigh. Of course we've had a mild winter and this particular winter I would have been better off with a machine like yours!

Overkill...Thankfully I live in Mississippi, where we don't get much snow. We did get about 4 inches last year and it was fun tearing it up on the Mule. The bed of the Mule is the perfect height to act as a log table for my Huskee splitter. Just back it up to the beam and go at it!

I like the old stuff too. I got a 1980 truck 1981 boat motor, i got some stuff older than me!

Nice older stuff! My wood hauler was made the same year as me 1970. I have a '68 and a '72 tractor. Nothing wrong with the old stuff as long as it runs most of the time. It sure is cheaper to buy too!

my thoughts too, Flatbedford! Plus I can remember all that old stuff being used when I was younger, and it brings back memories...I even like old movies and music.....like I said, I'm old skool all the way! ;-)

If you folks like old snow machines, check out this event, the Tired Iron race. Spring is party time in Alaska, and people come up with the darnedest excuses to do so:

Especially note the details of the Jurassic Classic and the Wired Iron.
snowleopard if that wasn't so far away I'D BE THERE! I wish they had some old school rides/rallies here in central PA. We have the occasional ride/poker run, but nothing like they do from the northwest-up.

Okay - since its impossible to derail a train when it is already off the tracks. I gots ya'all beat on old stuff.

I mow with a 1939. (VC Case)
I plow with a 1959.(Forward Control Jeep FC150)
My 10000w genny is 1942 power head. (hurcules - military)
My toy cars are 1956 and 73 (Packard and Challenger)
My backhoe is 1964 (Case CK580)

I'd consider you a LUCKY BUGGER.....lol.....they don't build stuff like they used to anymore....what makes are yer toys?

Jags I see you have an old Willys FC! I have a 1949 Willys 4x4-63 wagon.....its probably around 50% finished, still have to do the body work and such. Its lifted, and I installed an older Ford 302 with a 1977 Toploader 4 speed (4th gear overdrive). Something that I can take on my wood cutting jobs and hunting in the spring, summer, and fall....if it ever gets finished!! :ahhh:

I went to my senior prom in my buddies '59 Willys wagon. I briefly owned a '53 Willys pickup. I was gonna fix it up, but I was way too young and stupid to do that at 18...and I had no money either. I still have the tailgate.

The junkyard down the road from me had one of those old FC's (it was a 170), it was complete and although it was rusted to hell and back, it was all there. The owner was going to run it through the crusher and I asked him if I could strip parts off of it. He gave me a pile of parts and I paid around 100 bucks for the stuff. I made almost 1200 bucks on that stuff, I couldn't believe how many people were looking for parts for them old FCs....

Yep, worlds ugliest vehicle:
not sure about that, these 'Smart' cars are uglier, if you ask me....by the way, gotta love the firewood in the bed..... you definately are a wood junkie......

As it turns out, I guess there are a bunch of "collectors" out there. I ain't a collector. I use the stuff.

I can remember as a kid those old Jeep wagons were EVERYWHERE around here. When we would go hunting up on the mountain they were parked everywhere you looked. Guys had them converted over to small block chevys, big tires, light bars and fog lights, etc.....now you rarely see any of them anymore. I found mine right across from NYC in NJ. It had sat in a carport since 1964! the one side had rust damage, the rest of it was really solid. Now if I just had the time to finish the daggone thing...oh, thats right. I still have to finish the fireplace AND the living room remodel. Then there's the garage interior, and then the woodshed, and ......nevermind.......

Scotty- if that was my sled i would make it a 4 season unit! just throw a 5 h.p. on the transom and take er fishin!! looks like a good 1 man little scow. art

Art I never looked at it that way......great, now I got another project!!..

Hey guys, I used to own a Willy's car. Don't remember the year for sure but think it was 1953. That was a nice car and it also had overdrive. It was not fast but got great gas mileage. Picked up a few girls with it too.
