I just read an article and then decided to post it, but couldn't find it again, but anyway, because La Nina is weakening, and the Artic Block that is holding all the cold air up north is weakening and the North Atlantic Oscillation is doing something else and there are solar flares and the earth might have a second moon, it's going to be real cold in February and March, and below normal in April and May. So stock up boys and girls!

Seriously, though, it is supposed to be colder than normal February through May.

I have been wondering where Winter went?? Seemed like it was misplaced. I just broke the 1 ton mark this past weekend. Between filling the Quad (bout 2 bags) and the Fahrenheit (bout 3). Im almost at 60 bags. I have saved a Ton of pellets (literally) .... ;-P
Which is Ridiculous! ! ! Just started to snow here 20 minutes ago. We went from bare ground to 1/4" of fine slippery snow covering everything. Calling for Ice and a Winter weather advisory.

Been waiting on Winter for awhile now..........

I had to come sooner or later. But I sure hope it doesn't mess up my spring fishing!

Stash is full and I got the good stuff saved. Bring it! Easy on the snow please, My freakin back is killing me from last season!

I think it all averages out in the end.

I can remember one year better than 30 years ago when winter didn't arrive until February. Then we got clobbered. You never know until it has come and gone as to what it will be like.

Sorry not buying it. :)

What's your secret to using so few pellets? Oh yea, you are cheating with a wood stove ;)

Funny, did anyone ever tell you that you were funny?

I'm going to see if I can get my CRS act in gear so I can avoid doing things.

Furnace is running strong and Wood stove is CRANKING! Call it cheating, being smart, being warm, being Cheap, or whatever....

But it has saved me some pellets. Thats for sure.. I was hoping for another terrible Winter like last year to see what my reduction is?

I have been running the furnace in manual on days between 30*-40* on Level 1. If its 30*, then auger trim is at 5 (max) , if its about 40* then the trim is on 1 or 2 (min). On level 1, it uses much fewer pellets than the Quad. Only difference is the heat is injected into our bedrooms. Taking the 90* air from the basement, straight upstairs, via the HVAC!! ;-P

I honestly can say its gonna take at least another season to adjust and find where I want to run it. But it is saving pellets. Thats all that matters... (The wood too)!!!! ;-P (Cheating).

yep, he's a hybrid of sorts. ;-)

One of our local weatherman stated winter is "about over" for us here in Cincinnati. He also stated we are in a "Snow Drought."

I've never heard that weather term before!

Mind you, i'm kind of a weather nut.. Obviously this winter has been average or above average for pretty much all the lower 48.

But has anyone seen what's going on in Alaska?

The temps have been well below normal and most all of Alaska is reporting records snows too.

Valdez has received 26 feet of snow so far and the actual temps on the north slope are in the -50 below range... That's COLD!

Nome had its first ever winter oil delivery this year. They had a scheduled delivery in October but a huge storm delayed it and then they had a rapid freeze on the bering sea. http://www.nomenugget.net/

Supposed to be 60 here in next two days... :coolsmirk:

I'm with you forst tournament is in April and I hate to have to clean the snow off the desk of the boat at 4 am as I'm "slipping" it in the water and trying to keep myself from slipping in to.

And that my friends is the most accurate forecast you'll ever get. ;-)

Guys......

The reason it is so warm in the lower 48 this year is easily explained.

I bought and installed my Enviro M55 Cast Free Standing on November 29'th.
I've been ready for the cold since then. :) Waiting.....Waiting......

Just like when I bought my first generator 5 years ago. Lost power 3-4 times a year before.
Since then 2x and only once extended (6+ hours).

I'll let you guys know what my next major purchase is next time. That way you can plan better in the future.

His buddies are taking a summer time trip to Antarctica so they can gross about the sea ice melting at alarming rates. You see it is too cold to go up north in winter.

Excellent, now help us out here and buy several big snowblowers or a plow. Maybe there will be no more down hill up hill skating rinks where the driveway is. That situation has improved due to a bit of warm temperatures into a down hill or uphill depending upon the direction you are going.

Interesting post, I for one have no complaints about the warmer winter. I was not ready with the pellet supply and consider myself lucky. Next year we'll be better equipped. Moving in September was tough, finding out the oil tank was empty once we moved into the rental was even worse!
