Hey all, gotta newbie here, just gotta say I love this website it has been so helpful and informative. Thanks! Now onto my question. I recently acquired two Jotul wood stoves the first is a Jotul 12 Firelight (great stove) and a Jotul #8. On the #8, is it supposed to be cemented around the smoke outlet? And also is it supposed to flip around to make it go straight out instead of up? Because it does not look like it does. There are no bolts to be able to take it off. Any help and information would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Well, some people feel compelled to cement around flue collars, and some just don't. Shouldn't probably matter.

As I recall, that flue collar assembly is held by 2 6mm bolts(w/10mm hexes' of course) INSIDE the flue collar somewhere, and they CAN be challenging to find if it's crudded up in there. When you replace it, consider being one of those non-cementing people. There should however be a 1/4" gasket there.

Good luck!

Aside from hammer and chisel, a 4' angle grinder may help as it won't be as hard on the enamel as all that banging about.

Hi I noticed this thread got moved to the Pre-EPA woodstoves but the 8 I have is the 8 AP (I think) made in 97 with a cat and doesn't have the turn dial on the front would that still be a 1/4" gasket for the flue?

I changed the title to reflect the stove version.
