Good day all, I am new to the forum and thought I would start off with an unpleasant experience with my new stove. I purchased the Enviro M55 last August 2011 which was working like a champ up until a week ago when my stove started acting up with the flashing #4 error code. spend three days resetting the heat sensor, cleaning the stove as best I could, I gave up. I pulled up the installers manual offline and after some reading I narrowed it down to the convection blower. Because of the warrenty issues I called a technician in to take a look at it $99.00 later he confirmed that yes it was the convection motor as the fan was barley spinning casing the stove to over heat and shut down, thankful it is working like it is suppose to and shutting the unit down. So the company I bought it from did the leg work and contacted distributor and manufacturer. What they were told is that there is a defect in the convection blower motor and they have manufactured a new one but it will be two weeks to get one to me. This is clearly unacceptable and the distributor was not willing to pull an older model from a stove and now I am left without a stove for two weeks. So if anyone is having issues with thier convection motor this may or may not be your issue.

This should be in the pellet stove forum, not Wood Stoves and Fireplaces...the moderator may be able to move it for you.

No problem...we all do it at least once (some of us more than that). As I said, the moderator will probably just move it over there for you. Welcome to Hearth.com!

(And I owned a Whitfield and two Quadrafire pellet stoves when I lived in Colorado, so I understand your frustration.)

Thread moved to pellettown.

You also want to get the new adjustable auger flight cover as well. Likely the stove was roasting the convection blower, there is a new turbo blower for the stove. The unit was feeding more fuel into the burn pot (the new auger flight cover is supposedly the fix for that) than it should have with certain pellets.

Welcome to the right side of the forums and never count on a pellet stove as a primary heat source unless you maintain a stock of parts and do your own service work. Not only can it take time to get the parts but the service folks have to have an open slot to do the work.

Smokey,

Thanks and I do have the new adjustable auger plate and have lowered the setting so it is not over feeding the burn pot. I noticed that the feed trim was not providing me with any real feed adjustment, we will see if that was what you were referring too. In addition, I was told that the turbo fan was being shipped as part of the replacement for the defective part. I just am a bit dissapointed with today's society and the lack of customer service, two weeks to get a replacement part??? I get it just don't agree with it.

There are conflicting stories on the new blower, so I'll not add grist for the mill. One must remember that these stoves are not intended to be operated in the manner in which a lot of them are. The folks that do service work on them are usually out straight so scheduling gets to be an issue. The only solution is to have your own on the shelf parts if you are using the stove as a primary heating unit.

Things normally settle down on a new line of stoves after the first purchasers give them the real world test. It is quite common to have all kinds of issues for a while. Currently I have replacements for several parts on my stove and am still looking for some items.

There is nothing like taking the stoves past their normal operating usage and into the world of poor fuel, no cleanings, and continuous high firing.

Parts can be hard to find at times most of the older models have after market parts available which makes life a bit easier.

Good luck in getting the stove back on its feet there are a lot of M55 owners on here.

Ok.....First off, your reply sounds like that of a politician, much to do about nothing. What do you do for work? This is not my sole source of heat but, it has considerably reduced my consumption of FOREIGN OIL If you would even think that the average owner has a surplus of money to keep parts in stock well then your a bit off base. having said that, read through the thread, "One must remember that these stoves are not intended to be operated in the manner in which a lot of them are" what does that even mean????? My own shelf parts? Who's side are you on? I am a believer that Manufacuterers have an obligation to take ownership in any flaws in thier product and it should not be on the shoulders of the consumer. I'm no fool but, I won't be taken advantage of by BIG Buisness and expect to just lay down and except what thier excuse is.
This stove is only 5 months old and was not abused in any way, I took great pride in keeping it on an even keel so, please spare me with the liberal lingo.

Enviromaniac - your attitude leaves something to be desired, IMO. People are trying to help you, and you snarl back at perceived slights. Chill a little, and work with the good folks here, we're all here to learn and help each other.

Smokey was pointing out some truths about the pellet stove world, and doesn't deserve such rude commentary.

Enough said.

I am anything but a politician.

I never said you abused the stove.

I do not work for any stove maker.

I also am not on anyone's side.

Maybe you should do a lot more reading about what is the root cause of most issues with pellet stoves (ash in the works, the end result can be heat exchanger warping, followed by cracking, and burn through, usually with other parts getting ruined in the process) along with other operator errors.

Usually the manufacturers do rectify their mistakes.

I also am anything but liberal.

ETA: While I'm at it, I rather doubt there is any defect with the fan itself. I suggest you at least get the correct party to gross about and it likely isn't the fan maker. Fans can only remove so much heat before they overheat and cook.

Is that a nice metal roof there ?

Hi, I'm new to pellet stoves (moved into a house that has one and we love our Enviro M-55C-FS). I've been reading the forum and appreciate everyone's input.
This is our first season with the stove. The convection blower on ours seems a bit loud but we really have no point of reference. The noise would get louder at times and then there was some squeaking.. I'm trying to find a replacement, original part 50-2064, replacement part 50-2481, but they are on back order till March! I called everywhere.
The question is can I clean and oil this blower to give it a longer life?

Nice way to start on the forum. If you are not open to what everyone has to say please take yourself elsewhere as you and your poor comments will not be missed. Smokey is well liked here so you mess with him and you mess with everyone here.

Clean it is a must anyway. Oiling depends on if it has oil port for bushings or

You can clean the fan blades and any dirt built up around the bearings. You can try to shoot some oil around the bearings and try and let some seep in but they are not properly oilable. Just keep nursing it along until Enviro gets more of those blowers in and you should be ok. Don't burn the stove on too high a setting and try to keep the blower from turning too fast, that will wear it faster.

Since Bkins is playing moderator I think I will try my hand at it too,

jfac start a new thread with your question please.

Thanks.
