Hello again,
My attached garage currently has a house furnace in it and the oil tank that has expired so I would need a new one to have it insured. As a person who heats their home with wood/oil (just got the house a few weeks ago) I am wondering if anyone heats a detached building with an indoor boiler in their house. My plan is to add a zone to the boiler in the house, that goes to a heat exchanger. On the other side of the heat exchanger run a glycol system with a circulator and small expansion tank using underground insulated pex lines to heat the garage. Probably running something like this http://www.princessauto.com/pal/product/4240006/Auxillary-Heaters/36,000-BTU-12V-Auxiliary-Heater in the detached garage (24`X24`). The total length of piping from the Boiler in the house to the garage is max 30 feet and I am just looking to keep things above freezing in the garage and warmer on the weekends that I am out there. does anyone else do this? I am thinking this is easier/cheaper than having a stand alone system in the garage.
Thanks Again
