Am planning to install vents between rooms. Has anyone done this in retrofit? Considering both passive and/or powered. Thanks--

I have been involved with thousands of "transfer" type installs with gas equipment. Generally...got that, generally in a passive system you can cut the register in the wall and short cut the door for a return air or cut in a low grill. The usual concerns with transfer grilles are sound and light. Tamarack technology sells transfer grilles with baffles. Powered transfer grilles are offered by Tjernlund.

I checked the temps on the my transfer grill above the stove. Understand that my ceiling has 4x12's across the ceiling creating a heat trap above the stove. After a few hrs of operation the air exiting the grill upstairs was 95*. Room temp was 73.5* which is way to hot for a bedroom, well for my sleep anyway.
