Where do y'all get/find them???? Where I was working at today, a tractor-trailer truck was making a delivery. He had probably 10-12 empty pallets in his trailer. I asked if he'd be willing to part with about 6-8 of them. He said that he's "required" to bring them back unless the contents he's delivering require the use of the pallet...............whatever that means.

Help a newbie out here. I'm collecting wood, but I'm running out of places off the ground to store it after it's split!!!!!!

I get mine free at HD & Lowes.
Shingle/roofing dealers have lots for free here.
CL always has some outfit wanting you to come get free pallets.

Junk crooked bowed 2X4s at Lowes are pretty cheap, can make good wood racks.

Like you I like free, I mostly use pallets & put something under them to keep the grass & weeds from growing up thru

I get them from work and I also see them at Home Depot. If you live near a semi dealer or truck stop call and ask them. When I was driving semi I always saw them at truck stops and maintenance shops. Another place to call is a local lumber yard I don't mean a box store but a real lumber yard they usually have tons of scraps and pallets laying around.

Good Luck
Pete

Thanks guys!!!! I've got a Home Depot less than 1/2 mile from me.........not to mention a few more within 20 minutes or so. That doesn't include the Menards, Lowes, and the truck stops within the same distance also!!!!! Thanks again.....big time!!!!

Local lumber yards are the best for me. They have hundreds on pallets stockpiled. I can take all I want,,whenever I want.

Most OTRs get money for the pallets they take back.
Craigslist is a good source.

A good place to find pallets around here ( may work elsehwere too ) is Salvo Auto Parts , Pep Boys and so on , heck they appreciate them being gone so they don't have to

I have tons at work and break down, de-nail, and cut down at work. I have been bringing home 2 to 4 24x14x12 boxes a day. I deal with truckers all day long and they always have plenty. Just ask them when they are parked at a store, and check behind all stores. There usually plenty around.

I got a few today from our local hardware store- just starting out and bought a farmboss off the guy, He had a few pallets and I asked for them.

Stone yards, mason supply yards and landscaper supply yards that sell patio and retaining wall blocks.

Goofy as it sounds, newspaper offices are also a good source.

My best source in the past was always a local tractor trailer dealer . . . in fact they have so many pallets that they end up coming in to a few times each year to get a burn permit to burn them up in a giant bonfire.

Another place to look is if you have any lawn/garden/tractor dealerships . . . I know the Kubota dealership and I believe John Deere dealership here in town also end up getting burn permits every so often to burn up their pallets.

As mentioned . . . hardware stores, printing presses and plumbing supply places. A lot of these places are happy to have folks come looking to haul away their old pallets.

I drive for a local food service company, similar to SYSCO. These pallets tend to get in our way. Check out anywhere a foodservice company will deliver, loading dock areas, etc.
