I have installed a few 3.4's, I was really impressed with the stove! It's very responsive, easy to start and is built like a tank. I think you will be very happy. I noticed the little Stainless inserts weren't installed, didn't like them?

By little stainless inserts, do you mean the door trim? You have to have one as there are holes for the screws already there as my store guy mentioned when he installed it. There are several choices - black cast iron (what I chose), gold, brushed nickle. They all look great. The cost is maybe $200 extra for the metal ones, but it was free as a sales promotion in November. In January the fan was the free promotion. I just prefer black. But there are these pretty choices where customers can customize a bit.

Keep us posted, nice looker,i believe the rise on the top is for the blower to force air? What's the price on these?

Yes, the fan blows the air up over the top and out into the room. It is controlled by a knob to turn that lets you have any speed you want, or leave it off. I have another variable fan above and through the doorway between this room (the dining room) and the living room. Then the living room has a grate in the ceiling that opens up to the second floor to pass the warm air up to there. I actually keep that grate closed as I like a cool upstairs, and enough warm air finds its way upstairs via the hall and stairway.

UPDATE: The reason the hearth is so high is to get that air up and out. My old stove had no fan. The brick wall has holes at the top and bottom for a natural air flow circulation. The original installer who did this was very thoughtful.

I should add the stove arrived with a large sign on the glass saying 100,000 btu/hr and 78% efficiency. There is a video at the website showing how the stove is built, very interesting.

There are several choices - black cast iron (what I chose), gold, silver, and bronze. They all look great. The cost is maybe $200 extra for the metal ones, but it was free as a sales promotion in November. In January the fan was the free promotion. I just prefer black. But there are these pretty choices where customers can customize a bit.
The stoves come with little stainless inserts that slip inside the side panels, they fill those little sloted vents on the face of the side panels. It's just a little accent, some installers don't get them out, because they are kinda hard to install. You get a choice of Brass also, if you had a brass door. I thought the blower was included with all the 3.4's.

I'll ask my store guy about the inserts. Thanks for the info. Yes, I recall hearing the stoves do come with a fan already installed, easier for the store guy! Not sure how the pricing is worked out with respect to the January promo pricing.

They should be with your manual, I like them becaause they match the SS Enerzone logo. Kinda brings it all together.

We went with the brushed nickel. Combine that with brushed nickel lights in the room (that are '20's style) and some planned major remodelling, and we will be on our way to getting this house out of the '70's!

I'm giving this stove 2 more years to impress me... we should have good dry wood next year (I have 8 cords of ash/maple/oak drying for next year at this point), and I am going to go crazy on tops that were logged out a year ago this spring.

8 cords for next year?!! That's enough for 3 years here!

Any update on this 3.4? Burn times your seeing? Would you buy it again?
