Your Stove "grades"

wow......I am just gonna settle in here and watch the fireworks..........

Salty should make this a pole, Harman should get the caddy honors.

But its what you can afford IMHO. I settled for a mid priced/grade Enviro stove and was totally impressed with its performance. Bells whistles and will roast your a$$ out the joint!

I can only speak for the stove I own which is a Harman Accentre Insert. I have been very happy with it, it has exceeded my expectations. As for how it compares I will leave that to people who have the ability to do such studies like a consumer reports or others.

The Quad CB 1200 is a very good heater. But lacks the user adjustability (bells and whistles) Heats and Heats and Heats. Does a Fantastic job, even on lower settings. Awesome looking flame, easy to clean.

Fahrenheit is proving to be a Solid unit. Although I dont want to comment until we really get some Cold weather and I dont use the Wood stove in tandem.

I have the same and based on the price alone, I would say it is the Caddy of the bunch. That being said, it performs like a caddy too...

I wanted the biggest and the best so I can keep those heat pumps off. I think I got what I wanted.

I have had very few issues with my Englander multi fuel stove. Any issue I have had was resolved with one phone call or e-mail. All very minor. For under $1500 installed, I say this a winner.

I'm gonna give my Lennox Montage Stove an "A" so far.

But I'm gonna make some 'cause I think this thread is going to get fun.

imho i dont think my harman is worth what they want for it. my cumberland beats it hands down for a fraction of the price and its a multifuel stove.

I have two Harman's, one I bought new and the other used. I'm really happy with them; but I would have to say there are just as many, if not more Englander owners who are very happy, and have great customer service, which not all Harman dealers provide. Both are American made, which I like. The Englander is a lot less expensive, that I really like.

So, if I had to do it again, I'd be crazy not to consider the Englander.

I'd give my Englander 10-cpm an A-. No major problems at all, burns anything I put in it. Wish the hopper was larger, could be quieter, airwash could be better.

My Harman Advance has the features I wanted. I bought it used, I can't say I would have bought it at retail.

My Eco-Choice PS-50 has been everything we hoped for so far. I would have to give it a look in the low to mid range.

I am biased (as we all are) towards Austroflamm. The quality of build and longevity are outstanding. I have nearly 80 tons through my stove and have only replaced a auger motor and a low limit switch. Only drawback is no ash pan and no thermostat provision that I can find. One knob adjust for heat and thats it. No damper or feed plate adjustments.

i'm very happy with my ps50 as well.

very basic stove. super easy to clean. has the same burn pot as the mt. vernon. the holes have never gotten plugged.
it has the flexible auger and seems to be basically immune to jams from every indication it has given me so far.
i'm hoping that long term, the simplicity pays off in not having (as many or as expensive ) potential electronic issues as a more complex stove.

i have to get at least a few bags of super hot pellets next season to see how it works on those 15 to 20 below nights while running on medium.

my main complaint is that the stove doesn't have a super well sealed design when it comes to the oak.
the oak greatly reduced the draft issues. but it still pulls some inside air.

and the oak kit is like the most expensive one out there. the largest piece of the kit isn't even used for this stove.
i found just the collar piece on ebay for $30.
but instead of ordering that and paying for shipping and then still having to drive around and get all the rest of the things i'd need, i just bit the bullet and ordered the whole kit.

I don't know how anyone can give an objective answer except for those who owned or worked on more than one stove. If you are having success with your stove, then that must be the "best"stove. I am on year four without repair (knock on wood)! I give my success not only to the quality of my stove, but to solid advice I have received to help me use and maintain my stove. I am heating a two level home with infrequent furnace backup. In Kroozer's signature, he say 80% of all stove problems are related to a dirty stove. Amen to that. Stands to reason that a clean stove most likely will be the best stove. I've said it before, these stoves are not plug and play.

Well I am biased...Ecoteck, MCZ, or Austroflamm as top-of-the-line, then St Croix, Harman & Quad, then Enviro and Englander and Bosca......and at the bottom is US Stove Co (maybe should be renamed Chinese Stove Co.)....but what do I know??
