Feeling the Heat

Local place has these for $229.00/ton. Id llike to hear from those who have experience with them, and what do you think of the price?
Thank you

Thats about what I just paid. I like um. they burn consistent. no more ash than the barefoot I have. they last just about as long as the barefoot, but cost way less. I have a Harmon so it controls how much to feed to maintain a temp. To me its not worth the extra money. Others will disagree.

Price isn't to bad I've had good luck with them more ash than I like good middle of the road pellet.

That's a good price, but it's not my favorite pellet. In addition to the above posts, they cause my stove make snapping and popping noises. Sounds like the auger snaps the pellets in half. I don't plan on getting anymore next season.

im going to have to disagree with the above comparison to barefoots. i just compared the two last week and, if you didnt see it with your own eyes, you would not believe how much less ash their is burning barefoots. i also tend to burn less with barefoots which non scientifically i would say is due to the fact that they burn hotter.

I apologize....I missed that part of the earlier post. I can now think straight now that I finished my cup of coffee.

BAREFOOTS are great pellets. They produced great heat with little ash. NEWP doesn't come close to barefoots. I plan on stocking up my stash with barefoots as soon as I can make more room for them. I plan bulding a 12x12 shed to store my lawn and garden stuff, but maybe it should be bigger in order to store pellets in there too.

I've burned them for 3 yrs now and for the price and heat I can't beat them yet.

correct me if im wrong, i believe newp = green supreme, they are ok is scored 2 sweet price. im torching the GS this week, temps in high 50s. (freaky)

I personally do not like them, NO COMPARISON to Barefoot!

I feel that they produce more ash, less heat, and burn burn dirty. My stove was "sticky" inside after burning just a few bags. They also made my glass sooty.

I have piled my good stuff on top of them, come spring they will be on Craigs list for $4.00-$4.50 per bag cash and carry!

They're not bad. I bought two tons from my dealer. This was my first year so I went with what I thought was safe(being suggested by the dealer). Next year I plan on getting a ton of cubex and Vermont. I tested a few bags of those and they were much better in my opinion. Less ash/more heat. But if the price is right...

They burn ok for me. Not the hottest pellet, but not too much ash and pretty clean(fines, glass etc). These were the best I could do at the beginning of the season and the price was right(~$4). They do leave some crap in the burnpot. Not clicker, more like dense ash. I have to break it up with a plastic putty knife daily. In a normal(single digit) winter, they probably would struggle.

This is exactly my experience with NEWPs, even picked them up for less than $4.00/bag as well. My only real criticism on them is that they also produce that 'not really a clinker' dense ash muffin in the burnpot. I'd guess this wouldn't be a problem for a multi-stove with an agitator, but left unchecked it seems to eventually choke up my little stove (Enviro Windsor) and will prevent the stove from restarting if the burnpot isn't scraped out regularly.

Every year I try the NE pellets (a bag or two) and every year I say to myself: too much ash.. Could just be my stove, but I always come to the same conclusion.

Well stated!
Same here. For $219/ton delivered I am fine with them.

Make your shed BIGGER! I went with a 16x16, gambrel roof and a loft on top....and if you have the room, do it. I have 6 tons with room for more!

And yes, to the BAREFOOTS! Wish I had MORE....

I bought 3 tons of NEWP with the stove before I did research.

There is no comparison to Barefoots at least in my stove,
I cant get the same air temps out of the stove with NEWP burning the stove on setting 10 as i can with the Barefoots on a setting of 3.
I Have to run my stove at a setting of 8+ with NEWP to get the same heat out of the stove I get out of stove even with the cheap stove chow on a setting of 3

Ash output of NEWP in my stove is significantly larger than the ash output of Barefoot.

NEWP is ok for me on the milder days (which has been most of this year)

I just grabbed some more barefoot this past saturday to have on hand if/when this freakishly warm winter swings the other way

Wow! Thanks for all the replys. I think I will try a ton or two, they CANT be any worse then the Pa. pellets Ive been burning.
I have to go a long ways here to get Barefoots, or anything else decent, but Im still heating my home for a grand or less a year so Im happy. Thanks agian to all who chimed in.
