Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and I must say I'm extremely glad I found this forum. I just purchased a new summers heat 55 SHP 10 pellet stove a little over two weeks ago. So far I love it but my only question is that when I have it all the way cranked up on 9 and 9 it still only goes through a bag and a half of pellets a day. This seems low on such a high setting. The stove seems to put out good heat but I'm not sure if it should be putting out more as I have nothing to compare it to. It gets really cold up here in north pole Alaska ( last weekend hit -57) so I would like to know I'm getting the max out put out of my stove. Any feedback would be much appreciated :)

Can you post what the lower 3 buttons are set at? Also, a description of your exhaust set-up might be helpful too.

Bottom 3 numbers are a factory 6-4-1. Exhaust set up is direct vent straight out the wall and then up about three feet. Outside air kit is installed.

Yep, those are factory settings.

If you want a little more heat, try 7-4-1, or 7-5-1.

How about some pics of the new install?......as we always say here, no pics = it really didn't happen

I will get some pics up ASAP then! I thought the lower settings only affected the bottom three burn rates?

I have the same stove (englander 25 pdvc) On 9-9 a bag and a half is about right - depends on the size of the pellet sometimes too. The bottom three buttons only affect the low fuel fee settings on my stove which is a 2008. I've read other posts that have suggested newer models are governed by the bottom three at all settings, but I'm not sure on that one.

Mike Holton, who is the Senior Tech at Englander, is a member here on Hearth.com. He told us in a post last winter that in the newer models, heat settings above 2 ARE affected by the lower button settings.

To be 100% sure, call their tech line and have the serial # and the control board revision # handy (it's printed on the control board)....they should be able to tell you yes or no.

In the mean time, try raising the LFF and wait about 15-20 minutes....can't hurt to try.

I will try that. Do I have to shut the stove down after changing the setting to reset it or can I do it during normal burn cycle?

On my stove there is no need - just press the button and adjust the number. I would check into your specific model year and control board though first.
