That'll work. Skip the stacks...i was just joking above.

I know you were. I had considered one in the box. Can't do it with the dump bed plus I need to put wood in there. lol
That's why they need to go on the cab corners.

Silly danno, stacks are for kids. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Wish I had that truck. Looks like it was made for fetching wood.

Nothing better than being out in the woods gathering wood with your dog on a nice crisp fall day.

Getting some nice loads.
Time for some side boards, that truck likes work, stack some more on there.

That is a wicked cool truck. Drop a 12V under the hood and it would be...i don't know...whatever is better than wicked cool.

Answer: Wicked Good!

And yeah . . . Wicked good looking truck.

I believe the correct answer is "wicked hardcore", but you have to say it with your best Boston accent.

Up here in Northern Massachusetts it's still "Wicked good" . . . I can't speak for the folks in Massachusetts though.

I have a bunch more to load up but I did have enough energy left to get one rather large load of walnut out. This stuff was green to so it worked the old Dodge a little bit. Had to take it slow coming down the hill.

Nothing beats already having this years supply already in the bag, so you can plan and work ahead, and that very impressive load took some planning and some hard work ;-)

That truck would look perfect in the hills of Tennessee! I love my Dodge/Cummins wood hauler.

Been doing a little upgrading to the old wood hauler over the last month. Added 4" SkyjacKer lift springs in the front, 2" Skyjacker add a leaf in the rear, and factory 1 ton overloads on top of that. Picked up a set of Mickey Thompson rims with 315/75/16 M/T tires off craigslist for fetching wood in the back country. The street tires and clearance just were not up to the challenge where I need to get at. Next up are some Skyjacker Nitro shocks that just came in.

It sure changed the look of the old girl and, more importantly, still kept it at a decent height for loading wood.

"Don't mind the mule load the wagon"
Nice heavy duty wood hauler :)

Lookiing good Chargerman, I may have to do that dump bed modification to my 1996 GMC Sierra 2500. I also would like to build P/T sideboards so I can get a little more wood in the bed. I like the look of that truck with the M/T's. great pics, how about some pics once you get the Cummins installed.

I like the altitude adjustment.

Still needs more torque...

Yeah, I agree. The 400 does alright for what it is.

Really can't commit to the Cummins because it might go in another rig I have. Not crazy about the 5 speed up in the woods the more I think about it and the 4.10 gears don't work real good with a Cummins. Still have a fresh 440 sitting here that would be fine for what I need and the small amount of miles I drive this truck won't really pay off with the diesel swap.

Both the Cummins powered pickups I had/have were 4.10 gears. The 5 speed truck spun a bit faster on the highway than I liked, but it wasn't redlined either.

I have a '91 Cummins plow truck with a NV4500 5 speed swapped in and the 3.54's seem just about right in it. I still may go with the Cummins but it will take some work, manual steering column, pedals, modify the radiator support, different radiator, get new driveshafts made for the rear because of the club cab, swap the rear axle for a Dana 70, new exhaust system, and a few other things. I could have the 440 swapped in one weekend with little to no other changes.

Gotta be one of the best looking Dodge's from that era I have seen yet.

I guess I didn't read back far enough, but I was thinking that rig had a 360. A 440 with 4.10's would be formidable in the torque department, but not as sexy as the Cummins.

Now your talking. It should bolt straight up. Little to no changes.

From one Dodge man to another brother.

Hey guys, took the old truck out a few times for firewood recon and the suspension and tire updates are proving to be very helpful.

That's gotta be the nicest dodge of that vintage I've seen in years, & dump box to boot. Nice job chargerman! A C

I bet it's fun to fire that baby up.
