Been doing a little upgrading to the old wood hauler over the last month. Added 4" SkyjacKer lift springs in the front, 2" Skyjacker add a leaf in the rear, and factory 1 ton overloads on top of that. Picked up a set of Mickey Thompson rims with 315/75/16 M/T tires off craigslist for fetching wood in the back country. The street tires and clearance just were not up to the challenge where I need to get at. Next up are some Skyjacker Nitro shocks that just came in.
It sure changed the look of the old girl and, more importantly, still kept it at a decent height for loading wood.

Lookiing good Chargerman, I may have to do that dump bed modification to my 1996 GMC Sierra 2500. I also would like to build P/T sideboards so I can get a little more wood in the bed. I like the look of that truck with the M/T's. great pics, how about some pics once you get the Cummins installed.

Really can't commit to the Cummins because it might go in another rig I have. Not crazy about the 5 speed up in the woods the more I think about it and the 4.10 gears don't work real good with a Cummins. Still have a fresh 440 sitting here that would be fine for what I need and the small amount of miles I drive this truck won't really pay off with the diesel swap.
Both the Cummins powered pickups I had/have were 4.10 gears. The 5 speed truck spun a bit faster on the highway than I liked, but it wasn't redlined either.

I have a '91 Cummins plow truck with a NV4500 5 speed swapped in and the 3.54's seem just about right in it. I still may go with the Cummins but it will take some work, manual steering column, pedals, modify the radiator support, different radiator, get new driveshafts made for the rear because of the club cab, swap the rear axle for a Dana 70, new exhaust system, and a few other things. I could have the 440 swapped in one weekend with little to no other changes.
