I have 2 Englander M. 25ep pellet stoves the newer one is a year old and the auger started jamming every month (OK) than every week (pain), than every day (bad) and finally broke. They sent a new one but it was exactly the day the warranty ran out so i hope it works. We hooked a thermostat to this stove and it would barely stay lit, once bipassed it ran fine. Customer service said there was nothing they could do to fix this. The igniter failed, and the back foam piece was broke when we received it, they warrantied both of these.

Stove #2 is 2 years old and has been decent but the auger jams every 2-4 weeks. It's a pain to clear it, is there a fix (bigger motor?)? Can the cylinder somehow be cut and hinged to allow easy access to the top of the auger where it jams.

The older one has saved me a ton on Heat and I don't mind the maintenance the newer on is a pain in the butt. I know part of the problem may be the pellets but they are premium pellets (Lowes). Any help? If there was an easier way to clear the auger I would give these a 5 but as is a 3.

If you don't already, maybe you should sift/vacuum your pellets.....maybe you have a fines issue...what pellets are you burning?

Do you remember who you spoke to at Englander? If it wasn't Mike (Holton), then I'd try calling them again and ask for him specifically. If he's not at his desk, leave him a voice mail with a quick description of the problem and your phone number.....he usually will call back within a day or so. You could also try sending him a PM through this forum (stoveguy2esw).

If you get in touch with him, I'm pretty sure he'll get you straightened out. There are a number of forum members who've gotten the 25 EP stove recently and haven't had any jamming problem I remember.

BTW, what brand of pellets are you burning? Might be time to go buy a few bags of 2-3 other brands to run through the stove to see if the problem goes away.

25-EP here.. No auger jams yet. I've run about 60ish bags through there so far. I sift all my pellets.

On my last big clean I pulled the auger out and coated it with dry graphite to keep it from squeaking.

Maybe try that?

At the rear of the hopper, where the auger tube passes into the hopper, do you have a screw on "blocker plate"? It would have a single TEK screw at the top and a circular cutout at the bottom which follows the profile of the auger tube. Because of the single screw, there is a chance this plate can rotate into the path of the auger and cause it to jam.

If that's not the issue, there could be a problem on the cutout of the auger tube. Use an inspection mirror to look up the drop tube and see what the junction between the auger tube and drop tube look like. THere could be some weld bleed through or burrs from the machining process which could cause jamming issues.

How do you sift or vacuum pellets and do u have to sift the whole bag? I have some poly screen material that I could make a bag out of.
Pellets are Maine's choice premium .5% ash, hardwood blend, <6% moisture, .25% fines.

My wife spoke to a man at Englander (not good english) and got the word from his manager (a women) that the unit was 1 day out of warrantee so they couldn't do anything about the thermostat issue. I'll contact Mike I think if there are further warrantee issues they should cover them as we contacted Lowes (where we bought stove), and spent a troubleshooting session with Englander well before the warratee ran out.

I will try the graphite thing.

Thanks for the advice from all
