You read right. She called me when I was at work and told me she saw wood that said free and grabbed it. I guess my illness has spread. Husbands show your wives, boyfriends show your girlfriends, this is an new era to wood scrounging!

You are a lucky man!

Cool, that looks like some of the dead Green Ash I cut here on my place, do you have Green Ash?

Not only would my wife not pick up any "free wood", but she would shoot me if I ever referred to her as "my ol' lady".

My gf would not pick up the wood but would definitely make them hold it until I was able to go. She doesn't mind starting fires etc but wants nothing to do with cutting, splitting or anything like that. She is a mean cook so it totally makes up for it!

My bride is a great lady, but no way in hell would she pick up any free wood. She might tell me about it, but then again she thinks I got WAY too much wood allready. Does she split and stack too !! LOL

Good deal Backwoods, every bit helps.

+1! Backwoods you got a great thing with her doing that, but you may want to sleep with one eye opened tonight! :gulp:

yut yut yut.... she dont mind splitting, or stacking, and quite enjoys it. I wont let her use the chain saw though, and she dont want to. She enjoys starting the fire, and even on the cold nights, she'll get up in the middle of the night and put more wood in the stove!! She don't mind ol lady. When she gets old she might, but until then its all good. She after all is only 27... I think. ;-P

Spark- we have what looks like white ash, but I bit thicker bark, but I am not totally sure if green ash.

I'm closer to 37 than 27 and I really couldn't care less if Dh called me that...although I don't know that he does. Never heard him say it, not that it means he hasn't, lol.

We scrounge either as a team, or I locate the ad and send DH to get it if I'm at work (since it's bound to be gone by the time I leave). I bring jeans to work with me in case I need to change to scrounge on the way home though (pre existing or one that DH set up during the day from an ad).

Nice....thats hardcore. Bringing extra pants "just in case" :coolsmirk:

Unbelievable backwoods. The next step is to get her a small trailer and teach her how to back up! Of course, a 1 ton pickup for her bday would be nice as well. Good job Mrs backwoods. :)

And I find it interesting that you are always referring to DH! Just seems odd and I won't call my wife an ol' lady either as I think it shows a bit of disrespect. But I do still pick on her in other ways....

"She don't mind."

Those are famous last words for some.

??? You know it stands for dear husband, right? Just a forum habit I picked up long ago, I guess it's easier than typing "my husband".

Thanks for clearing that up eclecticcottage. I thought it was referring to a dizzy hitchhiker.

I was thinking you thought maybe it stood for something I probably can't post, but they are both 4 letter words and it's not a nice thing to call someone. :p
