Burning Hunk

I had another thread trying to figure out what to get and I ended up with a Honda powered 26ton Iron & Oak. I put it together mostly on Friday night (needed thread sealer for one of the fittings and had to get some). Finished it up this morning and made quick work of about a 1/2 face cord of oak I'd had sitting out behind the shop. WOW....Anyone thinking about getting a splitter, get one!!!! I had a grin on my face the whole time. I even grabbed one SUPER crotchy piece. I mean the kind that has grain going 4 different ways and one side had a stub where an 8" diameter limb had been cut off years ago and the bark and grown around the stub. Just a horrible piece of wood. It split it. It had to work to do it but it did it. Prior to now that would have been left in the pile for burning in the fire ring outside. I'm going to like this a lot.

Oh, and before you ask, I was doing it by myself so I couldn't take pictures of it in action but tomorrow I'll split some big rounds I have left and post them.

It never gets old. Even after having my MTD for 8 years, it still puts a smile on my face.

That 26 ton is a wonderful combination of speed, power, and just plain durability.

Enjoy!

Congratulations, you got one of the best :)
Many years of care free splitting.
Quit smiling & get some pictures of it in operation for us. LOL

Good for you! I almost bought the same one, but the prices increased and had to pay extra for the log cradle and wood dislodger and only had a one year warranty. Ended up with the one in my signature...they even threw in the 4-way splitting wings for good measure! Down the floor and out the door for 1825 including tax. Now, if only the snow will melt, I can start using it! Probably April or May for sure.

Oddly enough, I started this journey intending to buy the 37ton and ended up with the Iron & Oak. Let us know how you like it.

Splitting and stacking the wood . . . my favorite part of processing wood.

It may be mine now too.....

mking7, may that splitter serve you as well as ours has. We ended up with a 20 ton and it works great. I'll never forget when I started splitting with this thing over 20 years ago. For sure it put a smile on my face and I still love it.

Thanks! I hope it lasts a long time. I paid a premium for it with expectations that I wouldn't have to buy another one. It was actually fun splitting.
