I was being stubborn so far this year and only burning wood in our woodstove all because I couldn't get my hands on any reasonably priced uncle jed's pellets this year. I found these "WD" softwood pellets for sale 5 minutes from my house with delivery only costing $15 for how ever many ton you want. I got 6 bags to see how they burn. They are not as hot as uncle jed's but pretty close, and only cost $169 a ton. Burn great with low fluffy ash content to boot. The guy at the counter tells me they are made here locally. Anybody else try these yet?

The phone number comes back as "Great Lakes Green Power LLC"

There is a new company in Grand Rapids who just stepped into the pellet game. I tried a few bags over the weekend and my stove loved them even thought there were huge differences in pellet length. The guy at Smart energy in Grant told me they were an Oak/Walnut mix. They smelled awesome and were in a clear bag, there seemed to be a difference in the bags though as one was way darker then the other. Not much of a change in burning though. I hope to get more info in a few when I go hit up google. These seemed to burn hotter and cleaner then the Indecks I burn.

I've got pellets from them in the past. Good people there. You should try these things out, they seem great so far. I got them from the lakeview feed and grain store in Lakeview.

Couldn't find a website for WD.

Great price if they work well.

Outerlimits says they are rebagged Isabella pellets. I was not impressed with the Isabella's. Going stop at Lakeview Feed tomorrow and give them a try for myself. :p
below is a place that sells them in Cedar Springs.

Good find!

Wayne Davis and Isabella are the same pellet. I wasn't impressed with the Isabella as they didn't seem to produce a lot heat in my stove. I also will not support a company that price fixes. Apparently, they always have to be $215 a ton. At that price, there are a lot better options. The Kirtlands are a very hot pellet. I will be buying more of these in the future. If it helps with your choice, I just picked up another ton of Somersets as I was getting low. Had less than 5 tons left. I was getting nervous! My current stash consists of Somersets and Uncle Jed's.

Jay must know something about these?

I'm actually running 2 bags of Kirtlands right now and have not been all that impressed. I will say they seem to burn clean but I'm having an issue with the heat. I guess I should take my finesetting feed rate off of 1 and put it to 2-3 and see what that does. lol
I'm actually waiting for a subzero night to run a bag of summersets that I bought from Grant also.

I have heard of them, But still haven't seen any my way. Some stuff just doesn't make it over here! Its a pellet conspiracy I tell ya!

W D stands for Wayne Davis. They are a saw dust provider of livestock bedding. Most of their sawdust come from a saw mill in Mcbain, Mi. Which would be a soft wood pellet, if it came from that mill. I'll see if I can find out more info.

I went and bought two bags of the WDs anyway today to give them another try. I burned two bags of the Isabella pallets, the first bag did not impress me but the second one was okay. So if these WDs are Isabella pallets I will know for sure after this test if I want to add them to my stash. Lakeview feed store has them for $199 a ton and they give real good deals on shipping. These will go in the stove tonight I'll report back later my results.

nice find..might have to go pick some up to try i love my uncle jeds....but 260 a ton is not going to cut it..

I would buy them for $169 a ton for a shoulder season pellet. I just don't like the lack of heat though. I will say they are a very low ash pellet. The Kirtlands have more ash, but they also have a lot more heat in my stove. With Lowes having the Somerset and/or AWF for $175 a ton, makes me want to stick with these brands for the overall heat and quality. Also, a lot people think the Michigan Wood Pellets out of Holland, MI, are great, so what do I know. Buy what works for you and your stove. Good luck!

Hmmm... I was just there again today and the price quoted to me was $179 a ton. $10 more than I was told last time, but they were not $199.

My results burning them are, I'm going to have two ton delivered some time next week.. :)

Looks like a nice softwood pellet....

Where you finding Somersets for 175 at in West Michigan?
I live in Howard City and I need to find some good pellets cheap.

They can be had at Menards for that price (Somersets @ $175), several times a year.
