I'm trying to order parts for my chimney but manards strange system will only send the double wall pipe to a store(I don't live within 500 miles of a manards). I can get all the class A stuff sent to my house(go figure). So that leads to the question of if I buy all the class a pipe from manards "including the stove pipe adapter" can I get the dbl wall stove pipe from another mfg I.E. duravent? This is for 8 inch pipe.

Not sure about the particulars of this setup, but as a general rule components from different makers are not to be mixed. Doing so may not only be unsafe but may also void your homeowners insurance.

I have Security chimney and Selkirk dwp. Works fine if you ask me. What would be the difference of using generic single wall?

All of the Class A chimney components, from the chimney support box to daylight should be from the same manufacturer/line of chimney. The stovepipe (connector pipe) from the stove collar up to the ceiling support box can be from wherever, so long as it's approved and it provides a good fit with the Class A support box. Rick

+1 !!!

Duravent is an easy brand to get. Locally stores may carry it, best to check first.

Note however, the connector must be the same brand to assure a good continuous, locked-down system. Unfortunately it is rare for different brands to mate correctly, especially for double-wall connector. You need to have the DuraVent adapter ring for the ceiling support box. That will give you an insert, twist and lock connection to the DVL (double-wall pipe). If you try another brand of connector there will be no solid connection to the ceiling support box or thimble.

You might find it easier to get everything from one vendor. www.dynamitebuys.com carries all DuraVent pipe for a good price and they ship for free.

So you think I would need the stove pipe adapter to be the same as the double wall stove pipe not the class A.I was thinking the other way around (just guessing). I have thought about the dynamitebuys but they are more money then manards (probibly better pipe). :blank:

The wimpy stainless adapter is essential. It's a sleeve that provides the inner-wall transition from the class A to the double-wall.

How reliable is this product though?

Is it easy to install?

Duravent is one of the most commonly used brands out there. It is very reliable, enough so that it is in our home.
