This is a picture of a burn last night 3/4 load of 16% shagbark hickory, shown is the catalytic combustor, cherry red,the cat thermometer 1550*,stovetop 775* and the inside of the stove not a flame to be seen, this was on setting #2,a question for the Blaze King pros is this a good burn and are the temps similar to what you get on your stoves? Thanks PS that thermometer is spot on checked with my IR forgot to take a picture, next time.

Stove top is hotter than I get with my Chinook for sure. BKVP said the cats can handle 1600+ degrees, so no worries there. I'd say it's perfectly fine. I don't know what the king stove top usually gets up to though. BK recommends 13% moisture or less, but 16% is fine... In my area I can't even get my wood lower than 15-16%. where's your stove top thermo sitting? If it's sitting right above the cat it'll probably read high.

If you went straight through the stovetop where the therm sits it would be about 1 inch south of the cat compartment.

Personally, I don't monitor stove top temps...the only thermometer I have is the cat thermometer.

1500* cat temp is fairly common for me after a reload, and I'll notice the cat temp drop some...near the 1100* - 1200* for a little while...then I'll notice it climb back up to the 1500* range. It'll do this for a few hours sometimes before settling out around the 1000* - 1200* range for the rest of the burn. Although, this scenario varies based upon T'stat setting...outside temps...inside temps...etc.

Cleans the combustor
Mine gets up there often, I was running near that allot when it was -20°.
No temp scale on the one on my stove, inactive & active. Only have a at temp probe.
No worries, you're having a good burn, more smoke & wood gasses, hotter the cat, it's doing what it is supposed to do :)

No flame and that cat temp is a good burn but you should turn the fans up so more of the heat ends up in your house.
