Is there such a thing for sale anywhere? Speeco seems to show it on their website, but where can it be purchased and what is the going price? It looks like they have a 15 ton version with the Honda 190GC motor on it. F & F has one that claims it is 15 ton, but has the "speeco" Ohv motor, I'm sure a Chinese motor that won't last. Anyone have any insight on any of this?

AS much as I hate Chinese stuff I haven't heard anything bad about the Chinese knock off motors. Besides your more likely to have a failure somewhere on the beam assembly. In order to hold price point they've been outsourcing parts all over the machine. And besides your only talking about a 100.00 motor there.

I'm not saying every engine from China is worthless junk but I'd think twice before buying one. I'll spend $500 on a motor that runs 30 years before I buy one for $150 that runs for 5. My other concern is long-term parts availability. Who knows which of the Chinese manufacturers will still be in business, or exporting to the US, 5-10 years from now?

The way they are built and priced they have become disposable. By the time you buy the parts and put time into one you might as well buy new.

Looks like they built in the "free shipping" into the pricing but this is it. I read that the GC blows exhaust directly in your face on this model. Like the engine as we have a pressure washer with the same and its a one-pull starter every time....

My neighbor's Speeco with a Briggs lasted 4yrs. Was totally worn out. I think the days of small engines lasting is over. They get alot of power out of a small cheap disposable package. Just use it till its down and order up another Kleenex.

I did see posts that did that modification to the exhaust on the GC. Seems like it is a simple fix..

Briggs Vanguard, Kohler (The small ones are Yamaha's I believe), Kawasaki makes an excellent little engine for 21" walk-behind mowers, the good ones are out there (and running strong!) but don't expect them to carry price tags that are competitive with the Harbor Freight or entry-level Briggs motors.
I've yet to have a Honda engine disappoint me. I'm slowly replacing all my outdoor power equipment with Hondas.
I'm sure there are other good engines but I've yet to find a company that produces the same quality consistently. My new to me hs928tas (Honda snowblower) starts with barely half a pull. So easy to start I'd say I'll probably never use the electic starter since it would take more time to plug in an extension cord.

I used to think the Vanguard was one of the best small twins but the 72" Landpride I currently mow with has a Honda and I gotta say its been flawless.

I've got a 22diaper ton speeco/husky? With the 190 honda on it. It was a 200 dollar upgrade over the b&s 3 years ago. Ehxuast did blow into operators face in vertical mode without deflector. And you have to go around to the other side of the operator station to start or stop the motor. All in all I don't think the honda is that much of a need on these units. I wanted it because it kept the pump higher off the ground, mounted to the side, not under the motor.
Yup, Fllet Farm in Wisconsin has them. For an extra 250 get the Honda. I have a Briggs on our ( dads, brother and I went in on one) wood splitter and I keep keep telling them the Briggs only has a few year life. After 4 years it's going but burns oil and leaks a bit too. We ran Hondas on generators and air compressors 1000 hrs a year for 10 years building houses and never changed oil, just added. Hardly a problem ever!
